It's time to go. Sick of the racism and ablism.

I've supported lots of women over the years with things like birth choices or whether that's a good idea for a kitchen island or whether he's really all that, and tried to advocate for cultural understanding between people and understanding in all sorts of other ways, but I draw the line at having my posts deleted every rare time I express an opinion as a woman of colour.

I'm really fucking pissed off about it TBH.

It's like MN doesn't want women of colour to speak or be heard anymore. I'd say it was a lot better for this a couple of years ago and has reverted massively to what it was like before people decided black lives mattered.

It's not really a place where I feel like I can come and talk to people any more because if someone is being a racist arsehole and you tell them that you get silenced.

I have been on here for 9 years under different name changes (and that time I deleted my account) and I'm just really pissed off and done with it tonight. It's becoming a groupthink place for white MC women again and don't we have enough of those already? The diversity was what made it such a great place. But now I feel like I'm tolerated only as long as I don't talk about my experience as a PoC or an immigrant.

Apparently we aren't allowed point out the ridiculous hypocrisy to white people of them saying a black woman (Meghan, of course) has a "white saviour complex". So I'm flouncing because that's actually awful and everyone was right the changes we saw a couple of years ago were just half-arsed lip service.

The ablism is getting worse than ever too. It seems you can do what you want on here if you want to be racist or ablist but not if you want to challenge people who chat shit about people who are different to them.

Also they should never have got rid of the emoticons at the bottom of the posting area where you could get all the keyboard shortcuts for the proper MN emoticons instead of having to use the emojis on your keyboard.

I got my arse handed to me once on FWR by a Black poster. I deserved it, rethought and came back differently. It does feel like throwing your voice into a void (I feel that with feminism) but just to say sometimes people learn.

Your time is too valuable to waste on that though so I wish you well.

I have seen (and challenged) shedloads of ablism. I fear I'm not as good at spotting the racism, though lurking (posting would feel very wrong) on the Black Mumsnetters' forum has certainly made me think.

No one knows your race unless you want them to know, on here. It's no big deal! And for people being racist just report them and move on.

Please reconsider leaving. We need more people to counter the sorts who behave like that. Also ageism is a problem here.

Meghan is not disliked. The Sussexes are loved worldwide. If you looked past the tabloid trash, researched, and then observed what's really going on, you would see that.

In the U K, they still have a massive support network. No, I'm not a POC either.

You haven't read SPARE or watched the 3 x Netflix because if you had, you would know that they were telling the truth

My issue with MN is the opposite- there's a lot of hysterical nit-picking SJW-ism.

Meghan has an ever so slightly olive complexion. There are people I know with darker skin than her, that are white.

The lies they tell, prove their telling the truth? Make it make sense.

I sure agree about skin colour, I’ve a Welsh friend who’s white but is darker in skin colour and has same hair colour as Meghan.M is very attractive to look at but that’s where her attractiveness ends.It’s the attitude with H and M and all the ‘don’t look at me, I’m SHY’ stuff 😂
As to racism on MN I haven’t seen much of that and doubt the forum is shutting anyone up because of their skin colour, that seems ridiculous.

There is certainly racism in various parts of Mumsnet, sometimes overt and sometimes not so much, but depending on you where look problematic comments may have slipped your attention.
