Feminist Chat

I'm honest to God not an MRA, or ill-disposed towards people coming from a feminist perspective (with whom I've had constructive exchanges elsewhere).

But is it me or is the feminist forum on here a bit on the erm...full on side? There is some really quite extreme and eccentric stuff on there - and some quite unreasonable hostility.

Or is that just me?

'Eccentric' how?

DeleteOrDecay · 02/02/2017 14:50

It's just you.

This is flouncers corner. Where you post to announce you are leaving, if so inclined.
Not a section to slag off another section of MN.

PhoenixJasmine · 02/02/2017 14:54

What exactly is extreme or eccentric?

Boofeckinghoo · 02/02/2017 15:28

You're not flouncing, your moaning about a section of mumsnet you don't like and hoping we'll join you.

MrsDustyBusty · 02/02/2017 15:32

You don't have to be on feminism chat or mumsnet if you don't like them. I suspect the more regular posters in fwr will be pleased that you're now going to leave them alone.

M0stlyHet · 02/02/2017 15:36

Sometimes men come into the feminism section because they're interested and want to engage in constructive debate. They tend to be welcomed. Sometimes they come there in order to exhibit their "testicles of objectivity". They tend not to be welcomed. I guess only you know which camp you fall into.

JosefK · 02/02/2017 15:37

I'm leaving. I just wanted the reassuarance of another perspective. Ironically I was taking quite a radical feminist line on gender socialisation but I was totally hated.

It was just very odd.

I don't know what 'testices of objectivity' means.

"There is some really quite extreme and eccentric stuff on there - and some quite unreasonable hostility."

As I always say when people say stuff like this- could you show me what you mean, please?

If you do, you will be the first. I do hope you do because it fascinates me that so many posters say that's how it is but I've never seen it.

BertrandRussell · 02/02/2017 15:51

"Ironically I was taking quite a radical feminist line on gender socialisation but I was totally hated."

Good lord- if you think that was being "totally hated" you should try posting something feminist on "chat" or "Aibu"!!!!

MrsDustyBusty · 02/02/2017 15:53

My guess is is that it is the extreme, eccentric and hostile habit of not listening to him seriously as he makes the same old tired arguments that logical and sane men make to feminists on fwr every six weeks or so.

BertrandRussell · 02/02/2017 15:53

Joking apart, Josef, that was a discussion. It felt a bit fractious because there were some trolls.

But I can imagine it can feel a bit intimidating if you are a man not used to being disagreed with or being asked to back up your arguments. Which as far as I can see is all that happened.........
