MN has become a downer

This weekend I realised just how much the negativity in MN has been affecting me. Questioning everyone in family as to their motives. Thinking the worst of DP after reading various stories. The mudslinging back and forth.

MN for me used to be a sanctuary from the big bad world, now, now it's just a burnt out barren landscape full of coldness.

Off to live my life without all the bullshit of other projections.

Some may say I couldn't hack it but do you know what I don't care.

I don't think MN is very healthy for me either TBH. When it's good it's great, lots of kind help and advice and I like to think I play my part when I can help others too.

It's not the fights that get to me particularly, usually posters in those are being so ridiculous I don't take it to heart but it's the small insecurities/dissatisfactions it causes that affect my mood. Questioning the way I raise my children/run my house/do my job/interact with others/my relationship and friendships. In RL, most of the time I'm considered fairly normal, a decent sort and a good friend. On MN, I'm apparently very strange indeed at times.

I agree about it being a bad habit everlong, I end up spending way too much of my day checking FB and MN, as I work at home and its an easy way to procrastinate.

When I think of all the things I could be getting done right now and instead I'm reading about someone else's relationship woes, while I am now in a very happy partnership (albeit thanks to the wisdom of MN that I left my EA ex).

I deleted the MN app from my ipad thinking it would stop me defaulting to it, but I just use the desktop site now which has even more threads instantly available!

I tried giving up FB for lent and only lasted 24 hours, but perhaps if I give up MN for a period of time it will break the habit and I can come back if I need it later. There are plenty more MNers wiser than I am to advise people in the meantime.

I even got my first deletion last week for posting something really dismissive about an OP that just seemed way over the top, I've become jaded and cynical.
