I'm horrified by the venom on the badger cull thread. I'm off. I wouldn't mind some reasoned discussion.

Yep, I think this will be my last day. I have had one too many nasty posters saying stuff, verging on bullying. I suffer from anxiety and I have had enough.

Amazes me how nasty people get on the internet without any thought for the fact they are actually talking to a real person at the other end.

It is a shame as there is lots of amazing advice on here and some lovely lovely people but it is the few who think they 'run' the place who ruin it.

If you are getting help from the Brave Babes casawasawhy don't you hide the badger cull thread? It may help you stay on the site. Do you think the tone has changed too much for you to still feel comfortable here?

mrsmelons if you feel bullied, you should report the posts to MNHQ. If they don't know about the posts they can't help you. Bullying is against talk guidelines. It should be those posters leaving, not you.

Thanks greenhill, I think I am maybe too sensitive due to the anxiety but will definitely think about that as you are probably right.

Thinking about your point to casawasa, the tone has changed a lot recently, not sure what it is but you can ask a genuine question and it seems people jump at you with nasty comments, obviously not everyone will agree with you but even in chat it is getting like AIBU.

Don't flounce. There's still some fun to be had, you just have to look quite hard for it.

I try to keep out of AIBU mrsmelons but get sucked in occasionally, as even the most innocuous threads can turn nasty. I don't think it's always regulars though, the Internet is a big place and sometimes people register for a scrap. MN can attract a lot of derailers, specifically as it is a website for parents with a large percentage of women.

I find that if you have a question or need advice, it is often better to look in the talk topic and find the relevant subject. Often there are regulars there that can really help, the mental health board is great as there are long running threads offering support for anxiety etc.

As a teacher, I have hidden the entire Primary ed section.

Haven't seen the thread you are talking about OP but if you have had lots of support from MN it would be such a shame to go. Just hide the thread and try to forget about it.

And MrsMelons if you are talking about that phonics thread - don't go over that! Those phonics threads always get really angry, it must be because its a load of teachers who need to vent after being in a classroom full of infants all day!

I hid the AIBU section a couple of years ago. Helped with my blood pressure :)

Haven't read the thread of which you speak, but don't let a few people put you off when you get so much support from other areas.
It gets proper strange on here sometimes and I really don't get it.

There are many arseholes on here, old and new. I no longer go onto threads to debate because I'm sick of it getting nasty.

There is still a core MN community that I feel is worth sticking around for, but I stay away from anything other than chat and obvious light threads.

I think sparkling is right, there is still fun to be had but sometimes you have to dig deep.
I have seen some lovely people post on here.

What sparkling said, really. I tend to inhabit Chat mostly at the moment, for that reason.

There's definitely more good out there than bad.

Brave Babes is waaaay more important than knobbers in AIBU.

Ah Growlithe thank you, its not the only one but it just set me off today, I was having a particularly bad day as actually I love MN 90% of the time, I need to stay off on my bad days I think, I also think I can be too honest in an attempt to help and offer my thoughts so I need to step back a bit. I am going to sort some of my issues out but been putting it off so thanks, this is the sort of MN support/advice I like which is bizarre in flouncers corner
