See ya.

OP posts:

Usual - I have been here for 8yrs (mostly lurking & have probably got more than I will ever be able to give back)

I read that thread & felt sorry for her, although thought she was being a bit of a twat with how she put it.

Your POV is why I love mumsnet - it made her think & apologise.

I think the days of long drawn out reasonable discussions have largely gone.

Please don't flounce.

puds11 · 30/08/2012 21:39

You can't go
Not allowed so ner!

Northernlurkerisonholiday · 30/08/2012 21:39

The tone of the thread linked below works fine if you read it in terms of the OP talking about herself and her feelings. Given that she has had the massive stress of a marriage breakup, being obliged to relocate across the Atlantic and is now living on benefits whilst negotiating a difficult divorce, I was happy for her to use whatever black humour she likes to get her through that situation when talking about her own position.

Usualsuspect seems to have taken that thread as a personal insult and when you start reacting like that it probably is time for a break. Hopefully she can come back refreshed soon. What's the opposite of a flounce?

MyDogShitsMoney · 30/08/2012 21:39

Well, I don't know you Usual but I will be sorry if you go.

I see you about a lot and although I've never really noticed a pattern as regards to how often we agree/disagree you always speak your mind and I have huge respect for anyone who is prepared to do that.

You have strong opinion, you're happy to have a ruck, but I've also seen you be very kind and funny.

There's nothing wrong with disagreeing! I see a lot of posters who seem to care more about what other's think of them than being truthful.

MN would be a better place if there was more honesty IMO.

sunshine401 · 30/08/2012 21:40

I don't get threads like this . I mean why bother its attention right??

I would agree with TheFerret and add that i think there are also genuine, supportive friendships on here too.
But i wouldn't say there were 'in' crowds,MN is too big for that, just like minded people who strike up friendships.

K999 · 30/08/2012 21:42

Yeah, fuck off Sunshine Grin

PippasArse · 30/08/2012 21:43

K999 says it so much better.....

AmazingBouncingFerret · 30/08/2012 21:44

Ohh I wasnt tlking about that thread chub. I was musing on the incrowd/groups/royalty thing.

sunshine... everything is attention seeking, your post just now. Is attention seeking.

My post is attention seeking. I wouldnt post if I wanted to be ignored.

MigratingCoconuts · 30/08/2012 21:44

Has usual gone then?

NoComet · 30/08/2012 21:44

I kept off that thread, the OP was very jokey. Possible because she was genuinely upset, but I couldn't think of the right tone for a reply.

PippasArse · 30/08/2012 21:45

I've never understood people saying usual is mean or argumentative

she's kind, witty, fun and lovely

(and she said she loves me, so ner ner nee ner)

Grin
sunshine401 · 30/08/2012 21:45

Well nearly everyone.

I have never noticed an "in crowd." Those who have been on MN a long time and are popular, yes, but not to the extent that they constitute an in crowd.

PippasArse · 30/08/2012 21:46

northern, are you actually on holiday?

anywhere nice?

QuintessentialShadows · 30/08/2012 21:47

Dont let the door slam your beyonce.

MigratingCoconuts · 30/08/2012 21:47

You 're back!!!

Smile
PippasArse · 30/08/2012 21:47

I've been here a fucking age and I aint in no crowd

FamiliesShareGerms · 30/08/2012 21:47

Please don't go usual, I like reading your posts!

HarleenQuinlan · 30/08/2012 21:47

I read the OP as being sincere, I thought it was pretty brave of her to mention her 'previous life' given that she must have known some people would take exception to it

PippasArse · 30/08/2012 21:47

lol quint

PippasArse · 30/08/2012 21:48

none noticed my 'almost but not at all witty' namechange
