Hi, I have two goldfish I'm trying to re-home. I'd love to keep them as I've grown really fond of them, but I find it all too much to look after them with a young baby, a dog and the fact I'm planning to move quite a long way away. I don't think I can give them the care they need, basically. I advertised the fish and the tank on facebook for free and had 2 people say they wanted them, but in the end, I felt uneasy giving them away when I had no idea how well they would be taken care of. So, I have found an aquatics shop at a garden centre has, albeit reluctantly, agreed to take them. I went to see them today and they showed me the tank where they'd be housed. It's a tank where they keep fish who are brought in by owners who, like myself, can't keep them. The fish are kept in the tank for a while and then, once they know the fish are healthy and carry no disease, they try to sell them. It's a great big tank with lots of other fish and a good strong filter, not that pretty to look at with no ornaments or such like, but on the whole it looks ok. I'm due to take my fish there on Friday.
Am I doing the right thing taking them there? I really care about these fish and want to ensure they go to a good home.
I'd appreciate any advice, thank you.
