Dh wants to watch 'stand by me' which neither of us have seen, I'm concerned it might bring me down when what I really want is something to cheer me up?

No, it's wonderful. Heartwarming.

Er, I take it that you mean the River Pheonix one?

Its not laugh a minute. Its evocative and thoughtful, rather a cerebral movie. I imagine one could find it depressing, especially as River Phoenix is just a child in it.

It's heartwarming but I always find it very saddening, because of River Phoenix and the way his character is drawn, and his own sad premature death.

It is my favourite film ever. I used to adore River Phoenix when I was a teenager.

I watched 'Stand By Me' many, many times in my teams. There is a little sadness but overall it is warm, interesting and lovely.

I love it.

What everyone else said.. It's a great film, sad but not depressing IMO

Very good film. Have taught it, too, for a few years. Always goes down well.

yes but you have to close your eyes when they run along the railway tracks!. Remember thinking when i first saw (years and year pre dc) that having children would be so scary because they would always do things like this!

sad but lovely.

one of our favourites here. may have to watch it now!
