I accidentally posted this in chat but I'd intended to post it here.

I'm sure it's been done before but I'm bored and in the mood to discuss movies so humour me please.

What are your favourite movie scenes? They can be sad, thrilling, romantic, funny etc

most romantic was from a film called falling in love with robert de niro and meryl streep. the bit where he races to the train station to see if she's waiting for him...the bit where she runs out of the house to meet him before he moves house and she gets stuck in the rain.. sob i love that film so much

I haven't seen that film. I'll have to get it if it's available on dvd as they're two of my favourite actors.

Anyway some of my favourite scenes are...

From Reservoir Dogs

The famous walk. Possibly the best movie opening ever.

The Mexican standoff, particuarly the moment where Mr Orange tells Mr White that he's a cop.

When Mr Orange suddenly sits up and shoots Mr Blonde.

From Waynes World

The Bohemian Rhapsody scene.

Hellboy

When Kroenen leaps over the grave, shoots the soldiers, runs out of bullets, drops the gun and unleashes his wrist mounted swords.

The Deer Hunter

The first roulette scene in Vietnam.

Nicky's breakdown in the hospital

The final roulette scene

The bar scene

Après vous

The interview scene

The scene with Louis's aunt in the car

The Story Of Us - there are two great scenes. The first is where Bruce Willis turns up at his wifes house (they have separated) and tells her that he has seen himself through her eyes, and the second is the final scene where Michelle Pfeiffer bascially has a really long scene explaining that she's changed her mind and she wants him to move back in. I have never watched it without crying, I love some of the lines.

Complete trash but there is a scene in Zorro where Antonio Banderas does this swooshy thing and Catherine Zeta Jone's dress falls of, can't even remember what is so good about it but I just remember that me and the girls watching it at the time just went 'Oh'

I know it was you Fredo, you broke my heart - Godfather Part 2 - chills everytime I see it.
Also The Usual Suspects ending- doesnt matter that have seen it a million times and know exactly what is going to happen.

Finbar · 29/05/2010 08:46

Dennis Hopper's "A ride? Now that's a good idea" line in Blue Velvet...scary cary scary - you know no good will come of it!

thisismyclone · 31/05/2010 08:20

When you first meet Jesus Quintana in The Big Lebowski here

Not exactly a 'scene' but the Watchmen opening credits is brilliant.

There are more...will have to search

End dance scene in Strictly Ballroom (sucker for a bit of schmaltz)
'You had me at hello' (Jerry Maguire - I HATE Tom Crusie, but that scene...)
'Two coffins, three coffins' scene - Clint Eastwood - one of the spaghetti westerns but not The Good, the bad and the ungly.

BananaGio · 31/05/2010 11:49

ooh yes I love the end to Strictly Ballroom. Had massive crush on guy that played Scott. Also love the bit where they dance on the roof with the coca cola billboard behind them. Another bit of schmalz that gets me every time is ending to the Railway Children. Oh and for something totally different - Harry Limes first appearance in the door frame in The Third Man.Class!
