Utterly mind-blowing. James Cameron is a genius!
What an amazing movie, it has had so much hype that I didn't really believe it could possibly live up to it all, how wrong I was!!

Also the first time I have seen a movie in 3D and it was incredible. At times I felt dizzy from the great heights, other times you are actually seeing what the characters see and feel like you are actually there.

Definitely recommend it, I am a wee bit of a sci-fi geek anyway when it comes to movies but this had the whole theatre gasping!

Oh don't tell me that! DH & our friends all went tonight, but several nights out all close together meant I had no babysitter

Theresalwaysroomforpudding · 17/12/2009 22:06

Never mind Flame - it'll be on at the pics for ages and you can make DH sit through it again with you! My DH immediately said he wanted to stay and watch is again so I'm sure he won't mind!

Just got changed into my pjs and found bits of popcorn in my bra where I obviously missed my mouth!

OMG it was the most amazing thing I have ever seen in my life!!!!

I was watching it thinking: "How am I ever going to watch another film again because nothing will ever be as good as this!!!????"

Believe the hype, go and see this over Christmas!!!!!

borderslass · 19/12/2009 10:15

Its fanbloodytastic never seen a 3d film before my son wants to go again.

Tortington · 19/12/2009 10:17

oooooooooooh thanks for that review op, i deffo want to see it now

OhYouMerryMerryKitten · 19/12/2009 10:29

I am desperate to see it! How is it for a 10 year old? Good attention span and likes Star Trek films.

Theresalwaysroomforpudding · 19/12/2009 11:38

Your 10 year old should love it them Kitten as I love the Star Trek films and all that Sci-fi stuff! My DH is hassling me to get a babysitter so we can go and see it again!

The kind of film you just don't want to end. There's been some criticism that the storyline is too simple but I thought that was a good thing. Better than that ridiculous Star Wars Episode I movie with all the "Treaty violations" and "Trade Negotiations"...yawn..

The plot is simple but that's the beauty of it, you can just let it wash over you and drop popcorn down your bra...

Did you have to wear 3d glasses?

OhYouMerryMerryKitten · 19/12/2009 13:39

aw fab!!! I'll book it for between Christmas and New Year. I've been so excited about this film!

Is it a PG?
My DS2 would love it and DD is 7 but freakishly cool with grown up-ish themes like the later Harry Potter ones and The Mummy
( I on the other hand am a big jessie)

would be perfect for tues or wed

ElenorRigby · 19/12/2009 18:31

I have a seriously stressful life with little time for myself. Last time a saw a film at the cinema was nearly 3 years ago more or less.
I asked DP could I go out and would he ok to look after our DD for the afternoon. Yeah I got a pass out!
This was the best film I have seen in years. Superb, awe-inspiring. I went in worried and distracted but within minutes I was totally lost in the story.
So so beautiful!
Cameron is a master!

ElenorRigby · 19/12/2009 18:32

btw I only watched the 2d

Jux · 19/12/2009 18:40

Did you get those really good 'Joe 90' type 3D glasses? They're great; we got them when we saw Ice Age 3 in 3D.

Can't wait to see Avatar.

OhYouMerryMerryKitten · 19/12/2009 18:41

was it ok in 2d? 3d is hard for me.

ElenorRigby · 19/12/2009 18:59

i saw it in 2d, so beautiful

Theresalwaysroomforpudding · 19/12/2009 21:43

Saw it in 3D, it was amazing! I was expecting those shitty cardboard glasses with one red lense and one blue lense! .

Instead we all sat in the theatre looking like Clark Kent in rather snappy black plastic glasses! The glasses were brilliant and the 3D was utterly amazing. It made me feel a bit heady a couple of times when you were looking over huge cliffs & stuff but in a good way if you know what I mean!

3d is hard for me too Kitten - I have seriously wonky eyes and it makes no difference to what I see with or without the glasses. Do they do prescription 3D glasses??

hollyroger · 19/12/2009 21:49

what is the rating?
DS and Dh will love it but ds2 is only just 9...

SeeYouAtDartsDarling · 19/12/2009 22:26

It's a 12a but would be fine for a 9 yo I think as long as they weren't overly worried about big snarly animals.

It is a wonderful film.

Ponders · 19/12/2009 22:38

"Just got changed into my pjs and found bits of popcorn in my bra where I obviously missed my mouth! "

James Cameron should pay you for that review!

Ponders · 19/12/2009 22:39

mozette, I think the new 3D glasses will fit over your own

I wear glasses they fit over your own and it was gorgeous! First time ever, me and DS are going to see a film twice! Don't think they'll let 9yo in tho might have to wait til DVD. Which I am so going to buy btw it is beautiful and heartwrenching and son said it was ponage - I think that means better than awesome!

mozette · 20/12/2009 08:06

Thanks Ponders and Brightspark - I might just book some tickets then but I've got Alvin & the chipmunks 2 to endure enjoy first!
