I know its been out for a while but I watched it for the first time last night and well although I didn't hate the film the ending took me by surprise. I sort of felt like it came unexpectedly and it all seemed a little odd.
Anybody else seen it and what did you think.

I saw it recently too, though having read the book the ending was obviously not a surprise. In the book it is far more obvious what is going to happen as from when they first meet the fact that there is a gap under the wire where he could squeeze through is mentioned and how he would like to go through someday to play with him etc. What did you think about the film as a whole? I just found the whole thing abit unreal, surely it is highly unlikely that the son of a Nazi officer who was important enough to have Hitler dine at his house, would be enrolled in Nazi Youth etc and not be so naive about the situation?
