What a disapointment. A truly tedious film.

And you were expecting...?!

Every time I see the ad I get all excited and want to do Fame jumps (sure there's a technical term for those) in my legwarmers, singing 'Starmaker'

I am definitely not going to see this at the flicks but am inspired to buy the original movie and reminisce.

Podrick · 29/09/2009 19:19

I was expecting some fun fashion, gorgeous actors and plenty of singing and dancing

Not good then?

Had been wondringg about it and whether it would be suitable for a musical obsessed 7y DD.

differentID · 29/09/2009 19:20

it was high school musical. it was truly pants.

Hulababy · 29/09/2009 19:23

Ah - so maybe more suited to the younger children perhaps then???

differentID · 29/09/2009 19:59

I would have no problems letting a 7 year old watch it. There are none of the harder hitting elements fame was renowned for- abortion, homosexuality, lack of previous education, drugs etc
I think the worst is when one character gets ripped off for a lot of money and a different character has someone trying to kiss her when she doesn;t want it, oh and controlling parents and doing stuff behind their back.

Some of the dance moves are a little raunchy, but nothing offensive.

Podrick · 29/09/2009 20:50

Well I think any kid would be bored rigid. This wins my worst film of the year award and I regret wasting my 10 year old's time on it

Hulababy · 29/09/2009 20:53

Hmmm - maybe one to leave til it comes on Sky then.

Podrick · 29/09/2009 20:54

Film would be even less suitable for youngr chldren, hulababy...hardl any singing and dancing, just shite drama. You will feel guilty about taking your dd, not exactly a treat

It is frankly beyond me how a film about performng arts students could be dull. All involved should be banes from making any more films.

It was truly dire wasn't it?

MrsMerryHenry · 29/09/2009 21:14

Sorry, just the idea of a remake of Fame instantly says 'Pants' to me, which is why I made that remark in my first post. Pity you wasted your time and money - why don'tcha just get out a DVD of the original and dance the hours away?

Podrick · 30/09/2009 06:18

I have never seen the original film and I don' t want to now as I am still cross about how useless the remake was - it is the tv series that I really enjoyed as a child!

Ohhh, yeah - the TV series rocks! I'm sure that must be available on DVD! - will let you know if I find it!

Duritzfan · 20/10/2009 18:55

went to see Fame at the weekend with quite high hopes.... was soooooo disappointed !

How can it be that boring .. Id rather sit through ten showings of HSM than watch that again ...
