We are not fans but I am going to see the latest Harry Potter tomorrow with a friend and wondered if it would be OK to take 7yr old ds1. He is not familiar with the books or the films. Would it be too scary or too convoluted a plot? I know it's 12A which is why I'm asking.

The latest Harry Potter isnt that scary. They have made it more comical. My 7yr ds loves it. He has seen them all. I think you can watch them as stand alone films, but they are obviously better when you have seen them in sequence and watch them grow. There was only one jump out of your seat moment but boys usually like that anyway.

thanks teamcullem, I will ask him if he wants to see it.

It was dull tbh

It is not that scary, but it is long and complicated and I doubt very much if he would enjoy it or understand it without having seen the previous films or read the books. Better let him watch them in sequence IMO.
