I've found these in 'new releases', would appreciate recommendations on these or any other films - even oldies they may not have seen -

Camp Rock
Angus, Thongs & Perfect Snogging
Wild Child
Meet Dave
The Mummy Dragon Emperor
Wall E
The Colour of Magic
Journey to the Centre of the Earth.

DD normally likes fantasy/girly type films, but with her friends round she'll want something with more street cred

Actually we have Labyrinth somewhere...

Bumping for you.

Watched Angus, Thongs..... with dd (15) at Christmas. Felt it would have been better for her at 13/14, but perhaps too old for 10/11 year olds.

Bought my niece Wild Child for her 11th birthday, so I hope that's OK!!!

Mamma Mia - my dd's 10th birthday we had 12 girls here, they were mesmerised, I played it on the sing a long version, and they sure did sing a long!
As a party bag/gift I got them all a feather boa (£1 in poundland) and we whipped them out during dancing queen.
They really really enjoyed the film, they got up and leapt around during dancing queen but really did watch and stay focused.
Fed them then they disco'd and chose...... the soundtrack!

I made a cake, butter iced it and used those Dr ottekers mini icing letter/candy things and spelt all the cast names on it

Sophia
Bill etc all artistically and put MAMMA MIA DD on the front.

But how would you explain to children that young that Meryl Streep had the morals of an alleycat and the poor child has three possible fathers ??

RaspberryBlower · 15/01/2009 17:17

Enchanted?

BreeVanDerCampLGJ · 15/01/2009 17:19

Never mind the children, I love Enchanted...

Wild Child
Camp rock (my dd had a camp rock party for her 11th as it was the day it came out on Disney)
and Mamma Mia

went right over their heads Bree, as did the "does your mother know you're out"
They don't actually know what dot dot dot meant.
Innocent village goirls they are.

SniffyHock · 18/01/2009 07:52

I watched Grease at that age - Mamma Mia is far more subtle IMO. Broken condom and possible pregnancy anyone...

QOD · 18/01/2009 09:35

om my word - Grease! My dd LOVED it at about 5 - then I bought the CD..... cue lots of coughing from me when they're "getting lots of t*t" etc
LOL

MadreInglese · 19/01/2009 09:19

We went for Wild Child in the end, and they loved it
