I loved it, but each to their own

I liked it, but the book was better

Oooh I thought that was a good film! Went to see it at the flicks with a mate of mine and we both thought it was good. It is one of those weird, suburban dramas though, so that kind of thing might not be your cup of tea!

I agree FairLady... I did NOT like this movie. I thought it was so banal and boring and it paraded around as artsy and intellectual. It tried to do everything and just fell terribly short. (Hey, let's throw in a potential pedophile!) The weirdest and worst part, though, was that horrible voiceover. Yech.

Good sex on the washing machine though -- ha!

phew, am glad I am not the only one that didn't like it....

I liked it. I like HIM most of all. In his red trunks.

I liked the fact all the characters were flawed. In the book, they make a much bigger deal of her husbands 'issues' with snuiffing knickers!

mrsmaidamess · 07/01/2009 14:45

sniffing, not snuiffing. I don't know what that is.

FairLadyRantALot · 07/01/2009 14:51

oh the sniffing knickers bit made me giggle , I must admit...

and that guy was very nice...that much I can agree with

I thought the paedophile storyline was well done. In a lot of films that feature perverts they take it too far the other way. They make them too sympathetic. Or they have them unrealistically horrible. He was suitably creepy and did horrible things, especially to that poor woman that he went on the date with. But they also showed him trying to control himself and his urges. I thought the ending in the park was well done even though I guessed it would happen. It was the only way he could stop himself hurting any more kids.

I liked the fact that the characters were quite realistic. I'm sure we have all met women like the ones she was "friends" with in the park. I know I've met a few like that at some of the groups I've been too!
