I lost interest in this Bond when I saw his poor taste in hotels. Very blingy/sub-Malmaison. Could have been Helsinki or Cirencester.
And the action was too actiony. I couldn't understand what was going on half the time.
Agree, plot baffling.
No trunks .

moonmother · 04/11/2008 13:15

I've never really been into the films, the only ones I've ever seen are the old ones with Connery and Moore in.

Dp bought Casino Royale, a couple of weeks ago, and although I didn't watch all of it, what I saw looked good.

On Friday we went to see Quantum of Solace, I thought it was really good. The storyline wasn't like the old ones, but then it's been written as a trilogy , so after the next one hopefully critics will turn round and say "actually as a whole it was very good"

As for Mr Craig ...I wasn't a fan, but after watching him on Friday I can see what a lot of women go on about...

brightwell · 04/11/2008 14:15

I took my ds (almost 11) to see it yesterday, he loved it, I fell asleep, well it was nice & warm in there. The bits I saw looked good, no doubt we'll get it on dvd when it comes out.

Iklboo · 04/11/2008 14:17

Well, not for me cos, well, he just doesn't do it for me (odd woman). Think he looks like a young Sid James actually (beats self up before others do it for me!)

squeaver · 04/11/2008 14:18

Incomprehensible, unresolved storyline.

Dull non-witty script.

Good action if you like that sort of thing.

Not nearly enough shirt-off scenes.

brightwell · 04/11/2008 14:51

Did he take his shirt off???

squeaver · 04/11/2008 14:52

Only the once as I recall. On a cost per naked chest shot ratio, I would say it's not worth the cinema ticket price.

And like myeye says, no trunks. A very disappointing cinematic experience all round.

my work mates thinks I'm crazy having a bit of a crush on him....

Blinglovin · 04/11/2008 15:56

What? Who are your work mates? Send them to me. I'll sort them out.

but really, did bond EVER have a plot? I loved all the oldies, but mostly it was fairly simple: bad guy had plan to take over world, Bond slept with lots of people including bad guy's girl, Bond and bad guy have big shoot out to get final key piece of information/hardware, movie ends with Bond kissing girl (although not in the DC movies, sadly...).

If it's got a) good cheesy one liners b) lots of hilariously unrealistic action scenes (the snow cliff scene on one of Pierce's last?!?!?) c) clearly dileneated good and bad guys and d) Daniel Craig looking hot then... it's a movie or me!!

Although Squeaver's "cost per nake chest shot ratio" argument has merit. Should we start up a petition? Or maybe a facebook group...?

It's basically just Bond checking in and out of hotels for 2 hours - very dull. No real moments like in Casino Royale when he sat under the shower with Vesper but still he was still pretty sodding gorgeous Frankly he could've stared at the screen for 2 hours and I'd have coughed up £8 to see it

Tinkjon · 05/11/2008 14:17

rubyruby, I know, I was really disappointed at that too!!!

Blinglovin · 05/11/2008 14:35

Gosh, no gadgets? No gratuitous chest shots? No "bond. James bond"? Mmm.... what will I watch. .

Must go book right now!

There is a tux though

Blinglovin · 05/11/2008 15:48

Odeon booking by phone is with ridiculous voice recognition software - I feel like I'm in an episode of Fonejacker. So will wait until tickets for two weeks hence come free online!
