Really? thought it might be rubbish, but may go see now

(afetr HSM3 of course )

Milliways · 19/10/2008 21:49

It gets a bit drippy at the end, but the speech is just like one of his stand up shows at times - you just keep cringing & going noooooooooo, don't say/do that!!

Very much "The Office" humour

Going to see this tonight.

Enraha · 31/10/2008 13:09

I thought it would be complete tosh, but actually really enjoyed it. Even shed a little tear, because I'm a post-natal sucker!

I saw this last night and must confess to having a little cry when he decides to do what is asked of him...I loved the ending too.

I love Ricky Gervais, I think he turned in a very likeable performance, I must say I couldn't really liken any of his character to David Brent and the humour was much darker than anything The Office had to give.

All in all, I liked it a lot.

dietstartstomorrow · 12/04/2009 09:27

Saw it on DVD - much better than I thought it would be.

ClovisHandrail · 12/04/2009 09:31

Yes agree, saw it on a long haul flight. Laughed and even got a bit sad.

He was really great in it.

notsoteenagemum · 12/04/2009 09:41

I was really disappointed with this film, I thought it looked really funny.
I love the office and R.Gervais in stand-up,
but it was utter crap imo. The funniest bits were in the trailers.
I can't believe everone is loving it here.

dietstartstomorrow · 12/04/2009 10:26

I guess it depends on your expectations, my were low

GypsyMoth · 12/04/2009 10:30

I was disappointed too. Very boring. But I loved the office!!

BitOfFunnyBunny · 12/04/2009 10:33

I liked it. But the point about expectations was excellent

I actually like everything he does, but I only LOVE The Office.

Curiousmama · 12/04/2009 10:49

I loved it, saw it at the movies then got it on dvd, it's ok to watch with kids too which is a plus

ClovisHandrail · 12/04/2009 11:37

Pruners I did see his first stand up (the one with the panda as goth) but have found all other ones a on the offensive side, a bit nasty and a bit ugly.

So maybe hope for you yet with the film .
