Hi! I am a student at Gordano sixth form in Portishead and as part of my media course i am researching women in film. My specifice focus is on pregnancy in film. I was just wondering what are your favourite films that have pregnancy as the centre storyline and why? Do you think they potray women in a good way? It would be great if you could help! Thanks

i think my favourite might be 'junebug'. ashley, the pregnant character in the story is contrasted with madeleine, her glamorous sister in law. ashley is childlike and full of bounding enthusiasm - she's a very sympathetic character, though perhaps a little one-dimensional? her sister in law and mother in law balance out the depictions of women in the film.

another favourite would be rosemary's baby - not one to watch when you are pregnant! but there's something about the way that everyone feels they have a say in what happens to rosemary's body when she is pregnant (albeit with satan's spawn!) that is very true to life.

good luck with your research!
