Watched it up until the final 15 minutes, went and sat on the stairs (yes, I know I am a wuss, but in my defence have never done that before), and am not happy with dh's explanation of what happened, ie she he was dying of aids and had hidden him away or something thing - motherhood may have spoiled my belief for ever with this kind of stuff. I cannot believe my dh has made me watch a film that has made me watch a film which has ended up with me on the stairs!

I loved this movie and I don't believe she did hide him away, it was a tragic accident.

The mother topped herself.

She swallowed all those pills and joined the kids, of which her son was.

He kept asking her to come to Tomas' house and she said no, so he went himself. He got trapped down there when she threw those scaffolding poles in front of the door and the thumping she heard that night was him.

He died down there as a result of being stuck.

It was an accident and so she committed suicide.

Just like The Others, of which it turned out to be a big rip off.

i thought it was really good (you did mean the original version didn't you, not the remake?).

thought it was sad but they were all together in the end
