OOOOOOOOO!
EEEEEEEEEEEK!
AAAAAAAAAARGH!

then an hour plus of YAWN! ergo: Don't go near the curtain, don't go in the garden, behind you, you're boyfriend's not coming back blah blah blah blah blah.

Highly Hackneyed

Not worth the ticket price for the three good frights and the ensuing utter dirge.

OH crap I was going to go and see this!

suzywong · 15/08/2008 00:50

However, I have woken up fresh from a night of full on nightmares, but that could have been the Stephen King short story I read before sleeping.

It's all right, I suppose, but if you are as old as I am then you just think the orginal bogey-men-with-axes-breaking-your-windows-while-you-cower-in-an-isolated-cabin-in-the-woods-having-s ent-your-boyfriend-out-to-the-car scenario is better.

I want NEW horror, fresh horror, clever horror!

I am old, old , old! And do long for some good horror, although my definition of good is most likely everyone elses crap! Love the Ring, the grudge , not the remakes tho. Also a big fan of del Torro... Pans Labyrinth. But theres not much these days that gives me the shivers.

suzywong · 17/08/2008 01:50

you should try and get hold of this one, lyra

El Ofornato

best I've seen for ages

also DH has some Korean Horror that is very trippy. I'll try and dig out the name of it.

Looks good, one to get hold of. Reccomendations appreciated!

lazaroulovespastries · 18/08/2008 10:07

I only saw a thirty second trailer for this one last night and I had to sleep with the light on.
It will be one I'll watch from behind my hands, annoying dh by asking him what's happening every five minutes.

handlemecarefully · 27/08/2008 01:03

I watched this movie in my room at the Mandarin Oriental in NY a couple of nights ago (shamelessly shows off). It was dull - no plot, no unexpected twists, didn't keep you guessing and offered precisely nothing of interest. I was surprised that Liv had chosen such a poor script - is she down on her luck?

suzywong · 27/08/2008 01:07

you were on your own in a Hotel Room in NY?

never mind the shithouse movie, tell us about the CITY

OOOh I nearly watched El Ofornato on the plane on the way back - but it's Spanish isn't it? Didn't having to read the sub titles detract from the horror?

handlemecarefully · 27/08/2008 01:08

No, sadly I wasn't on my own - I was with dh and children were asleep in interconnecting room. It really wasn't that exciting (lol!)

suzywong · 27/08/2008 07:22

you must go and rent Orfornato it is SUPERB! Locked-away kids with scarecrow faced bags on their heads, what more could you want. It will make you blub though.

well you were still in NY! How was it?

yes saw it.........only time i jumped was when i fell asleep and a noisy bit woke me.

SciFiFan · 20/09/2008 20:53

I also saw The Strangers a few nights ago and was sadly disappointed. It said at the beginning it was 'inspired' by real events. I'd be interested to know which real events as I'm sure no one in real life would act so gormless at every turn!!

AbstractMouse · 24/09/2008 01:15

Oh I loved the orphanage so much, also pans labyrinth, such great films.

NumberFour · 26/09/2008 07:12

I have also been really disappointed by horrors lately. And these gore movies are ridiculous and sickening, certainly not horror. I also wanted to see The Strangers and probably will still anyway.

El Orfornato? Scuse the ignorance but I have never heard of it... Best I get looking!
