Watched "Gilbert Grape" tonight and it made me cry [SHOCK] Silly sod that I am.Though not a major fan of Leonardo Di Caprio I thought his portrayal of a child with Learning disabilities was excellent in this.Of course the marvellous Johnny Depp is delicious in most things.Anyhow,it got me thinking, what are your top movies to have a good old blub to.

I'll add

E.T.(I wept buckets throughout)
Fried Green Tomatoes At The Whistlestop Cafe(When the main characters older brother dies, and her best friend dies)
Shawshank Redemption (When he plays the operatic bit across the prison speaker system)

There are loads more,I'm sure..

Your turn

The Champ....pretty much all the way through but especially at the end when he;s telling his dad to wake up and he's dead...

Titanic...at the end when none of the lifeboats will go back

Who will love my children....that just makes me wail

bamboostalks · 03/08/2008 21:58

Not usually a crier, but Mamma Mia did it for me last week - the little girl growing up song

thumbwitch · 03/08/2008 22:48

Would now like to add 'Miss Potter' to my list. Always cry at thwarted lovestories.

MrsSprat · 04/08/2008 01:23

When in late pregnancy pretty much anything, and to a certain extent now (and I'm normally as hard as nails, mind like a diamond, when it comes to movies)

Anyway had a real blubberfest at ...Fred Claus (I know) and they put the lights on really quickly at the end and I was well and truly rumbled. Mind you DH was looking a bit misty around those eyes as well.

ConstanceWearing · 04/08/2008 02:08

The first time I saw The Deerhunter I sobbed myself to sleep

GentlyWorryTheAnimal · 04/08/2008 08:23

Apes losing hands was Gorillas In The Mist - and yup, sobbed over that too

Kevlarhead · 04/08/2008 23:16

"Grave of The Fireflies"

I've avoided that one; chiefly because I always get slightly teary at (another japanese studio Ghibli one) Laputa:Castle in the Sky... saw it when I was six and THEY SHOT THE ROBOT!! Just the bit where the robot gets shot (the second time) and he's coming apart, on fire & still trying to protect the girl... ah crap, I'm eyedribbling again.

And that's a single robot being shot. Don't want to go near any stories about Japanese families being systematically incinerated...

plus3 · 08/08/2008 22:59

So glad someone else mentioned Field of Dreams..now it's very easy for me to cry, but my repeated sob fests are:

Gallipoli
Truely, Madly, Deeply
E.T
Leon
The Lion King (much to DS concern!)

Remember going to the cinema at A-level time to watch Dead Poets Society...cried so much that the chap in front passed me a tissue...
and actually still can't recount the end of Day of the Dolphin without crying
