What a pile of poo.
There's a bit in it where Daniel (Brett Goldstein) keeps saying C* over and over. Making out us English say it all the time as bants. Ermm no we don't. It was so ridiculous.
Also he gets a boner that looks ridiculous. No trousers in the world would look like that! Worth watching just to see how stupid that looks.
I turned it off. So unlike me. Dh was relieved.

J lo looks fabulous though.

That C is for cunt by the way.

The spoiler is it is absolutely dreadful. Such a shame no-one told Brett Goldstein that hijacking a couple of Roy Kemp riffs into a romcom about an airline without any of the character development, context or purpose would be shit.

And even that description sounds X10 better than the movie turned out.

Inmyuggs · 07/06/2026 04:02

Watch it last night
I thought it was abit silly in places but it was a easy watch and thought the cunt word was hilarous
Seeing the baby crown was worst part for me.
Lighten up its just a movie overall.

Spot on. I agree with this completely.

CerseisWig · 07/06/2026 08:24

Nah I won't lighten up thanks. It's appalling.

I'm shocked it got backing. Unless he funded it himself?

Yes, as expected it was very bad. A few funny moments.

the most unbelievable thing was that he wouldn’t have had a notepad at all times. He was going to meetings where he would be hearing facts and taking instructions without one. Preposterous! Even more unrealistic than the birth scene.

HermioneWeasley · 07/06/2026 08:47

Posted too soon, but the point of the movie wasn’t quality or believability, it was so was can all enjoy J Lo’s hair and clothes, which I did, immensely.

minipoodlemum · 07/06/2026 08:57

Watched it last night - it’s definitely not deep and meaningful but J Lo’s wardrobe was incredible, she looked stunning in every scene.

ZenNudist · 08/06/2026 12:43

I'm midway but enjoying it. I think it puts Brett Goldstein on the map more. I still don't see him as a romantic lead but he did a bit of that in Ted lasso.

It reminded me of Matthew Perry doing romcom in the 00s. Unsuited but sort of okay. You just can't see filmmakers casting him again. He's not quite the right material somehow. He's just a bit of a one note actor. I found his posh British accent unbelievable.

As for J-Lo it's no out of sight but it is like many of her "vehicles". Marry me was worse.

So far I haven't like the prison sister, the erection scene, the cunt joke and the British fetish. Also the board set up is silly but rom coms are silly. Betty Gilpin is excellent. I look forward to more cringe moments as I watch the other half.

Yes his accent was strange.

Maybe I'll give it another go if only to see more J-lo outfits? It'll be when dh is out he couldn't bear it.

I quite enjoyed it. J Lo looks fabulous. I do like Brett Goldstein a lot and can buy him as a romantic lead though!

The birth scene was the most unrealistic birth scene I have ever seen 🫣 I didn’t like the c* word bit either. Reserved for worst of the worst, not banter. Agree about the boner being ridiculous too (but did laugh).

Inmyuggs · 09/06/2026 07:14

So you didnt enjoy it so whats thenpoint in the threaf anyway? To play movie critic...poms a.pomming.

icannotlivelaughloveintheseconditions · 09/06/2026 07:17

It was terrible the only decent bit was Jodie whitikar who was hilarious.

SereneFinch · 09/06/2026 07:21

I thought it was very uneven. Some quite funny jokes and moments and then some really bad misfires, like the erection and the c* scene.

Not familiar with the British actor but he seemed very awkward to me. J Lo was great though, she is good at this type of film.

StormySam · 09/06/2026 07:28

Horrible film. Saying cunt a dozen times is the least of it's problems. Great cast and terrible writing. Seemed to be written by someone who's never spoken to a woman in their lives. I haven't seen Ted Lasso but I presume Netflix greenlit this based on that. JLo did look amazing tho and was earnestly delivering those shitty lines.

Ndd1356387 · 09/06/2026 09:04

Omg I LOVED it. Lighten up everyone. Their chemistry is palpable

Ndd1356387 · 09/06/2026 09:05

And JLo is gorgeous

TheWineoftheChicken · 09/06/2026 09:08

I quite liked it. It was ridiculous, but wasn’t that the point? It’s not supposed to be a heavy hitting piece of drama.

Sorry didn't quite get that? 🤣

I'm glad most of you enjoyed it. I'll give it another go sometime.

I thought it was pretty funny. Yes a lot of silly stuff as per rom coms generally, but I have a massive crush on Brett Goldstein (see username!) so was just happy to get a glimpse of the rug again tbh Grin

And yes JLo glowed!

lol I wouldn’t bother. You either get it or you don’t. I laughed a lot at the trouser scene. It’s a laugh

I only like him as Roy Kent. Seen Ted Lasso 3 times. Dh loves it too. I'll probably watch again before the next series?

OP posts:
Screamingabdabz · 09/06/2026 13:49

I only watched it for him but yes it was cringe.

The thing that annoyed me the most (apart from that completely ridiculous ‘British room’ scene) was that JLO is supposed to be this scary ballsy boss but there is absolutely no evidence of that. She sits simpering through a business meal with some dick coming on to her then crying about his ex wife? Nope. A formidable CEO would not put up with that.

And I rolled my eyes at the usual misogynistic stereotypes of fat-receptionist-with-IBS, blonde-drunk-bimbo and batshit-PA. 🙄

MeltonInTheHeat · 12/06/2026 16:58

I tried to sit through it twice but it was too crude for me. (And I am a big sweary person).

Just could not manage it. I like JLO. I've never come across Brett Goldstein before but thought he was very dishy and I mainly continued because of him and his chest hair.

selondon28 · 12/06/2026 17:08

They lost me at the British fetish room bit, it was so utterly stupid, unbelievable and shoehorned in, even JLo couldn’t sell it. And her “I’m happy with my food” shoulder dance, what was that? Just bizarre writing. Plus gratuitous, let’s see JLo in a bikini while she applies sunscreen scene and the birth scene was just odd. Very plastic. And agree, they tried to make out she was some kind of Miranda Priestly boss at the start but we never saw any evidence of that. But I watched it anyway!
