I really enjoyed this film and I was in two minds before going. It’s easily the best film I’ve seen at the cinema over the last few months, including The Christophers. It had a feel of Whiplash to me, I wonder if anyone else felt that? It is a good, interesting (unlikely!) story, good characters, good pace. I feared for a while that it would be too long for its content and style but it wasn’t. The last line was excellent

I'm going on Monday having seen the trailer several times over the last few weeks - am really looking forward to it so am happy to see a positive post!

Will report back after Smile

We saw it last weekend, I was really looking forward to it, but thought it was just ok. Thought the storyline quite weak, could have been much better. Shame for me, having dragged DH along!

Well I really enjoyed it - I loved both the score and the soundtrack (especially the piece of music at/near the end), the performences were great and I agree about the similarity to Whiplash in the editing and cinematography, which were spot on.

The plot is far fetched, but if I wanted a documentary I would have booked to see one and I think the warmth of the characters and dialogue kept it from getting too silly. I've seen Leo Woodall before in something or other that I can't remember and I'll look forward to seeing what he does next (and Havana Rose Liu is also in Power Ballad which I saw and liked last week).

Would happily recommend and watch again ☺️

Really good. Enjoyed

@SocksAndTheCity did you see him in the last adaptation of One Day? He was Dexter. That’s where I knew him from

It was great

Gilltthepill · 09/06/2026 23:19

Wasn’t he in the last Bridget Jones film?
I thought Tuner was quite good, not brilliant. The plot was a bit weak but it’s one of the better films I’ve seen this year.

SocksAndTheCity · 09/06/2026 23:39

I've never heard of that one @Davros , so that's not it. It'll come to me!

I also quite liked the robbers Smile

Leo was in White Lotus - that it?

sakura06 · 12/06/2026 06:57

Enjoyed it. I liked the Dustin Hoffman parts especially as they were funny and lighthearted. It wasn’t quite as good as I had expected though. Still solid 8/10, I think.

I thought it was excellent and such a good performance from Leo Woodall. I have never really noticed him in anything before but he was brilliant.
