Power Ballad

I wandered into Power Ballad after finishing work early and I was glad I did - Paul Rudd is completely believable (his singing is not half bad too) the music is fun and even though it's nothing groundbreaking, it had enough emotional heft to get me invested and I enjoyed it a lot.

I would have liked to have seen more of the mother and daughter maybe, but as straightforward comedy drama films go I think this is definitely worth a look, and it cheered me up no end Smile

It was a nice little film, wasnt it?
Def nothing new but watchable and pretty entertaining.
I did think Paul Rudd was an odd bit of casting though, it felt like it might have been better with an irish actor in the role (idk, he just seemed abit too 'Hollywood' for the role).

Oh I really liked it! It’s made me realise how much I have always loved films about music (Music and Lyrics springs to mind, and one with Keira Knightly and Adam Levine that I watched twice without realising until halfway through 😝) but I know there have been plenty of others, so any suggestions of similar films would be happily received!

I caught myself singing the song from the film while I was making my lunch today, so it was catchier then I thought! Have you seen Sing Street and Once by the same director, @toomanyflatwhites ?

If I'm going to get in my pyjamas early on a Saturday evening and have popcorn on the sofa, this is exactly the sort of lovely thing I want to watch. I might double bill it with The Commitments or possibly School Of Rock Smile.

Was very lucky to attend the world premiere of this in Dublin. Paul Rudd & Nick Jonas attended. It was amazing 👏

I enjoyed it too. But I don’t think Paul Rudd was really singing though?

The Kiera Knightly film is Begin Again by the same Director and Writer of Power Ballad. HIs other films SIng Street, Once and Flora and Son are all music based and lovely. SIng Street is one of my favorite films
I havent seen Power Ballad yet

Oh wow thanks @bruffin, I knew that Once and Sing Street were the same director, I didn’t realise his Begin Again was too - so now I need to see Flora & Son!
absolutely loved the ballad of Wallis island too ❤️
