What films can you watch over and over and never get bored of?

I think the more interesting question, which I've been pondering for a while, is "Why is it that some movies stand up to re-viewing forever, and some don't at all?"

Lemons4171 · Yesterday 00:39

Pretty Woman
Erin Brockovich
The Intouchables ( in French but the music is great)

In spite of my long list previously I managed to forget The Lady Vanishes (original Margaret Lockwood/Michael Redgrave version) and The 39 Steps (original Robert Donat version). There aren't many Hitchcock films I don't love.

I also totally forgot about Michael Powell and Emeric Pressburger, who made some fabulous films I could watch any time, including, but not limited to, Black Narcissus, The Red Shoes, Colonel Blimp, A Matter of Life and Death, the 49th Parallel and my favourite (by a whisker) I Know Where I'm Going.

All of the above but I would also add:
The ghost and Mrs Muir
The Leather Boys
Up the Junction
Hue and Cry
Sparrows can’t Sing
Smashing Time
and my favourite This Happy Breed

Iocanepowder · Yesterday 07:28

Lovely to see Sound of Music on here so much as that’s my favourite.

I’ll also add Robin Hood: Men in Tights as a new one.

Thebinisrightthere · Yesterday 09:14

The Others. My favourite thriller

CrazyWeather · Yesterday 09:23

they all have to be on or recently recorded (by TiVo) for me to watch them though, if I have old recordings or DVD's I don't watch them 💁🏻‍♀️

Notting hill
Love Actually (controversial on here, I know)

The Italian Job (original)

lots of 'disaster' movies.

EDIT: & Reading through the thread has reminded me of a load more! The Rock The Green Mike, 4 weddings & a funeral,

but they do mostly have to just 'be on' & I end up watching them rather than setting out to watch a film, as I don't like setting aside such a big chunk of time to watch tv. I guess known films are just much easier.
