Just watched this film and it is such a sweet and touching film with Sally Field. It isn't taxing on the brain, but I watched it all the way through without double screening (which is impressive for me!). Its about a cleaner and an octopus and family - recommend it.

Thanks! I was thinking about watching this. I recently read a book about how intelligent octopi are and it was a really thought provoking read. When I’m home I’ll find the name.

I loved the book, so will watch it this weekend.

Other Minds is a brilliant science book - I have an octopus sculpture called Charles named after the one in that book who broke the experiment

I read the book a while ago and loved it. Yesterday I watched the film on Netflix and feel they did a great job. It's a really uplifting (if unexpected) story and works pretty well on screen.

Just watched this and it's utterly lovely.

ThePlatypusAlwaysTriumphs · 09/05/2026 19:27

Its on my list! Read the book a few years ago and loved it, so I was a bit worried the film would be disappointing- glad to hear it isn't!

Mothership4two · 11/05/2026 08:35

CherryogDog · 19/05/2026 10:00

I watched it at the weekend and absolutely loved it!
The ending, wow, definitely need tissues for it.

Costacoffeeplease · 19/05/2026 10:03

I found the book a bit ‘meh’

It didn’t live up to the hype for me, I doubt I’ll bother with the film. Twee schmalz doesn’t appeal

Cuppaand2biscuits · 26/05/2026 22:16

I read the book last year and was surprised by how much I enjoyed it.
I thought the film would be utterly confusing to anyone who hadn't read the book as it missed so much out.

ChimpanzeeThatMonkeyNews · 27/05/2026 08:06

I bloody hate Sally Field. Her very cringey ‘you like me’ speech at the Oscars should embarrass her for the rest of her career.

JustOneMoreScroll · 27/05/2026 08:22

I loved the book but thought the film was ok at best

Bridgertonisbest · 27/05/2026 08:46

I loved it, I thought it was a really beautiful film.
