Anyone seen it? The reviews aren’t great so wondering if it’s worth it or wait till it’s out on Netflix.

I’ll be honest. I absolutely loved it.

most of the people in the cinema were over 50 and all the men were follically challenged.

Its cosy and predictable but there are some nice comic moments.

We don’t go to the cinema very often so it was nice seeing it on the big screen but it’s not one that you’ll look back on wishing you had in a sound of music kind of way.

DH and I are planning to go tomorrow night. We enjoyed the Fishermans Friends movie, and generally like the gentle British comedy genre. I also like Mark Addy, recently saw him in the Harold Fry musical where he was brilliant.

Saw It today and really enjoyed it. Very funny.

It was lovely! A real David and Goliath tale, warm and funny.

EasterlyDirection · 17/03/2026 18:00

We really enjoyed it too, maybe a bit implausible in places but beautifully shot, well acted, heartwarming and funny.

I was really hoping he’d get his guitar back.

lycra clad cyclists drive my sister mad on Lake District roads so I really laughed when they were described as Middle Aged muppets in lyrca. 😂😂

Worst movie I’ve ever seen. There were a bunch of women over 60 at it and they loved it but it was truly terrible. And I’m not overly picky usually. Twee, predictable, ridiculous, shallow, terrible acting.

Abracadabra12345 · 20/03/2026 15:57

@Yoheresthestory Haha I wouldn’t go that far but it was a bit silly and twee and highly implausible, speaking as someone brought up in a SW country village.

Trouble is I’ve been spoiled lately by cracking films like Epic Elvis and big screen retro films like Shoot the Moon and Breakfast at Tiffany’s so expect to come out on a high

columnatedruinsdomino · 20/03/2026 16:30

An implausible but feel good film. Martin Clunes was great!

ArtAngel · 20/03/2026 16:40

It is indeed predictable and won’t change your life.

But a pleasant enough way to spend 2 hours, a few genuinely funny moments, and a couple of moving moments.

Thought this was a thread about bread. 😂 As you were...

To be fair I think we all did when first seeing the ad for the film

What's their age got to do with it?

FrenchandSaunders · 26/03/2026 10:51

It was a bit weak but reasonably enjoyable.

Netcurtainnelly · 26/03/2026 14:27

Couldn't find it at our local cinema?
Odd.

MadisonAvenue · 27/03/2026 12:40

Saw it a few weeks ago, it’s very predictable but it was okay. Better than sitting at home and spending half an hour flicking through channels to find something to watch.

Mushroo · 27/03/2026 15:41

I thought the same as others, pleasant, easy to watch but predictable. I wouldn’t rush to watch again but it was nice enough

Shinyandnew1 · 27/03/2026 15:44

I thought it was a lovely feel good film ❤️
