PortBlacksandResident · 15/06/2008 10:29

Black Lace are reforming!!!

Oh - you didn't mean like that.

suzywong · 15/06/2008 11:19

but what about NOW?

OP posts:
suzywong · 15/06/2008 13:30

anyone else seen anything that scare the shite out of them lately?

OP posts:
cornsilk · 15/06/2008 13:36

I thought 'I am Legend' was scary. Am I soft?

Pruners · 15/06/2008 13:37

youknownothingofthecrunch · 15/06/2008 13:43

I am Legend just made me sad

I like 28 Weeks Later and The Descent had me constantly on the edge of my seat, but can't think of anything more recent.

Will have a think...

cornsilk · 15/06/2008 14:24

wHAT ABOUT THAT NEW FILM THAT'S JUST OUT AT THE PICS THAT'S MEANT TO BE SUPER SCARY?

suzywong · 15/06/2008 15:29

all right, cornsilk, no need to shout

The 9th Gate, Pruners. Got it. It is a bit shite but my boyfriend spends a lot of time shirtless in it so it's not all bad.

I dunno why the need, I just like it.

turquoise · 15/06/2008 15:36

Are you looking for spooks and devils, or psycho killers? Not that I can recommend anything sadly, but if anyone comes up with good psychos I will add em to my list.

I want something to match the likes of
What lies beneath
Face/off
Suspect
Silence of the Lambs.

If you're looking for spooky - Ghost Ship was quite jumpy in a really crappy schlocky kind of way.

GeoffWode · 15/06/2008 15:43

Totally agree with whoever said The Descent.

I nearly shat myself.

beeny · 15/06/2008 16:06

This is very old but very scary Rosemarys Baby.

suzywong · 29/06/2008 03:22

I think last night I found what I was looking for
The Orphanage

it has everything, even a scary kid in a sack mask.

Enjoy

falcon · 29/06/2008 10:24

I'll second The Orphanage, also another Spanish horror by the same director I think, ''The Devil's Backbone''

Candyman is pretty spooky, though also very gory, but it seems much more arty and well thought out than your typical slasher movie and I love the score by Phillip Glass.

falcon · 29/06/2008 10:26

Exorcist 3 is very spooky, and may have the best jump scene ever.

suzywong · 29/06/2008 10:33

Yes, yes the Devil's Backbone!
It seems to me there is a sub-genre of horror based around Spanish Children's Homes - The Others was produced by Spaniards.
Probably a throw back from Franco's time
I love 'em

Thirty Days of Night will scare the shit out of you.

southeastastra · 03/07/2008 22:56

there was a run of spanish horror on bbc four lately films to keep you awake what is it with spain!

they were fab though, have you watched beasts yet?

themoon66 · 04/07/2008 13:34

30 days of night has the most evil and realistic vampires. Stuff of nightmares. And I don't usually scare that easily.

[nerves of steel emoticon]

mrsfederer · 06/07/2008 22:01

Same here moon. I was on my own overnight in the house when I watched it.

Big mistake.

wuzzlefraggle · 11/07/2008 11:01

Agree with the Decent.

I'm dying to see 30 days of night...is it really scary then?

suzywong · 11/07/2008 11:12

thanks for the link, ses
yes I have watched beasts, that mummified baby ogre is as fresh today as it was 32 years ago. LOVED Pauline Quirk as gormless checkout girl. I did titter at the Dummy one though.
I think the League of Gentlemen should preface everything they do with a nod of thanks and awe to Nigel Kneale who wrot them all.

southeastastra · 14/07/2008 18:42

it's great isn't it, though simon maccorkindale splashing about in the bath made me lmao a bit.
wonder why it's never re-shown, on the hunt for similar things.
