Wintery films

[Suffolker]

Hello everyone. I’d love to hear your suggestions/recommendations for films that feature cold/snowy, beautiful landscapes. Preferably including mountains. Not a Christmas film but one which has a properly winter feel to it, at least for a decent part (if not all) of it.

Fabulous! Thanks for the suggestions, several of which I’ve never heard of so I’ll investigate. Don’t think I’ve ever seen Dr Zhivago!

Epic film! Seen it many times over the years.

I love it - the music, the snow, the sleigh riding and especially the ice palace with furs on the beds.

Oh, and not a film but still epic and starring the great Jodie Foster - True Detective (the last one set in the artic circle).

In a similar vein - also set in the artic with film production values and Hollywood casting - Fortitude.

Gorky Park is brilliant.

If you don't mind horror, the Swedish film "Let The Right One In". Plus its US remake, "Let Me In". Don't think there's any mountains in either, though, I'm afraid.

Oh yes, they both have a very cold wintery vibe!

Whistle Down the Wind, can’t actually remember if it’s set in winter but I think it was cold!

Train Dreams on Netflix has a kind of winter feel. I loved this film so much.
