Watched tinsel town with Kieffer Southerland. It was good I enjoyed it but didn't understand the role the 2 girls played in the movie. Kieffers daughter wasn't to bad, Could see how she fitted in, but the other girl in it even tho she played the daughter of one if the main characters made no sense. She barely said anything and when she was in it she was always sent away to do something away from the camera like look after the other girl. It was pointless and adds nothing to the story. Apart from that it was good

I’ve just watched this and couldn’t understand how it could be as terrible as it is, given the big names that are in there. The acting is atrocious
The story line has possibilities but the two leads look very uncomfortable.
I do hope Derek Jacobi has another role lined up soon to diminish the memory of this one after such an amazing career!

I watched it today. It was ok, but there are so many other better Christmas films. Ones I will watch year after year. Arthur Christmas and Noelle are two perfect examples just from this weekend. Not to mention the classics which we watch EVERY SINGLE YEAR AND LOVE THEM.

but this wasn’t one of them. The other daughter, I think her context was around Danny Dyer’s character and him wanting to prove he wasn’t a crap Dad which meant he had understanding with Kiefer’s character.. But I absolutely love Kiefer Sutherland and I was really excited by this and it didn’t quite hit the mark. I did think though, what is Kiefer Sutherland doing in a sky produced film? It could’ve been so much better,

FastTurtle · 08/12/2025 18:11

I enjoyed it.

threesocksmorgan · 08/12/2025 18:30

It was fun , but the ending was odd.
why did he not contact his ex to tell her his dad was safe.
yes I know she was in the audience. But did he know?

She has famous parents, perhaps it was a guest cameo.

the film was overall very ropey, with such a loose story it fell apart under the mildest pressure.

Oh right. Nepotism them. Perhaps they could have got a real child performer. Reminds of North West in Lion king 🙄

I watched this last night.

I didn't know a film could be so bad.

What on earth was going on with Rebel Wilson's accent?

What on earth was going on with Kiefer's acting skills?

What on earth did Derek Jacobi think this would add to his illustrious career?

36vibes · 19/12/2025 12:02

I had the same feeling when I watched it. It felt like that second girl was there more as a background device than a fully written character. Almost like she was included to show “family life” around the adults rather than to add anything meaningful to the plot.
Kiefer Sutherland’s character and the overall atmosphere carried the film for me, but some of the supporting roles definitely felt underdeveloped. It’s one of those films where you can tell certain characters were probably reduced during editing.

readingisallowed · 19/12/2025 14:36

Rebel Wilsons accent was nearly as bad as her dancing.

ThePoshUns · 19/12/2025 14:50

I enjoyed it, it was an easy watch and I would watch Kiefer in anything. Rebel Wilson was as awful as ever, how she gets such big parts I don’t know, I am sure there are plenty of British actresses who could have played that part better.

When I saw the trailer for Tinsel Town, I thought "Where have I seen this before?" And then it came to me, "A Bunch of Amateurs", a lovely but little-known film that appeared long before Tinsel Town, with an identical plot! Strangely enough, both films feature Derek Jacobi. I trust that the writers of Tinsel Town sought copyright permission from Ian Hislop and Nick Newman, (writers of A Bunch of Amateurs) before making Tinsel Town.

Just watched this as a Christmas afternoon film, acting was terrible but an easy watch, didn't require concentration and nice looking at Knaresborough where we holidayed last Spring

itispersonal · 25/12/2025 17:49

Its an ok film! Dont think rebel Wilson added anything to the film, could have had a northern actress in it to bring the character to life!

mamabluestar · 30/12/2025 11:25

Best Christmas movie made in 2025 for me. I'd watch it again next year alongside Your Christmas or Mine and Last Christmas

DontFallInTheHaHa · 31/12/2025 01:45

I’m debating watching this, it was filmed in my hometown, I ended up walking past a lot of filming being done earlier this year so would be cool to spot the bits I’d seen IRL. But it looks shit 🤣 so not sure quite how bothered I am!

I loved ‘your Christmas or mine’ and the equally twee sequel

IamEarthymama · 31/12/2025 02:26

Oh, I liked it!
Totally twee but hey! It’s Christmas!

Newgirls · 31/12/2025 18:07

I liked it but it was very odd - as if no one rehearsed and loads was cut?

rebel was miscast. The bloke from Emily in Paris hardly said a word. The bloke playing the baron is a good actor and again barely in it. Less of the daughter plot and more about the panto would have been good.

dereks main scene was moving and stood out from the rest

tennissquare · 31/12/2025 23:45

I just realised the daughter of Rebel Wilson’s character is Robbie William’s
daughter in real life - hence the casting.
