I saw the premiere at the London Film Festival and it's out today! I almost didn't book it, partly because I knew it would be everywhere before long and partly because I thought it would be a pretty standard crime caper but the prescence of Channing Tatum and Kirsten Dunst is guaranteed to get my arse in a seat and I'm really glad I went.

I had never heard of Jeffery Manchester or his story, but apparently the film is pretty accurate (and there are some clips of the real life people at the end), and the whole thing was a lot warmer and kinder than I was expecting. I think I love Kirsten Dunst a bit more every time I see her, the church and community storyline was lovely and Peter Dinklage, Ben Mendelsohn and everybody else were great too.

A new Christmas film in the Die Hard mould, IMHO Grin.

I'm going to see it tomorrow.

I love Channing Tatum and that film poster is just perfect imho.

...is AIBU to post my thread on the wrong board and immediately report so it can be moved to Films, which hasn't happened yet Grin.

Not too much joining the dots involved there, I wouldn't have thought.

We were supposed to go this weekend but son was working. Looking forward to seeing it next weekend.

Thanks. I saw the trailer but it was hard to say whether it was a must see or not .

May see it next weekend.

Watched this today and agree with OP. This was a really heartwarming and enjoyable film, despite being the true story of an armed robber! The cinema was virtually empty so not sure this is getting the recognition it deserves but I really enjoyed it.

Freebus · 26/10/2025 22:07

I too watched it yesterday. Agree heartwarming!

I didn't know the story so it was good to see .

Littletreefrog · 26/10/2025 22:10

Ive seen it today and thought it was a bored Sunday afternoon in front of the TV type film not a look forward to and go to see in the cinema kind of film.

I didn't like it, I dunno but it just screamed red flags to me with her introducing him to her kids so fast etc.

and the amount of video games he was stealing from the store was massive. Like not a few to make sure he could afford to eat, but like thousands.

Imagine she posted on mumsnet, she'd get crucified!
