Highly recommend this new heartwarming but hard hitting film which is based on real life. You will laugh and you will also cry.
John Davidson developed Tourettes in his early teens while living in the Scottish Borders. This film covers 40 years of his life.
Stellar cast and great soundtrack.

I absolutely loved this film. Will stay with me for a long time.

I'm keen to go. Ds1 aged 15 has a tic disorder. We are lucky though that his school and peers are brilliant. A new kid started and started to make fun of him and was firmly shut down by DS's classmates. A few months later the kid came to DS privately and apologised. They are now reasonably friendly and chat away.

But he of course hates and is embarrassed by his tics.

I saw it at cinema and it was soooo good. I thought it was a comedy and I was embarrassingly sobbing my eyes out. Which boyfriend found hilarious. It’s is v v sad but also uplifting.

tennissquare · 19/10/2025 14:42

I saw this last night, incredible! So good.

rookiemere · 19/10/2025 18:09

Just been to see it, what an amazing film. I am usually quite critical about the length of films, but this I felt was exactly the right length.
All the performances were impeccable- especially the dogs. Peter Mullan is one of the very few people I would be genuinely shocked if I learned anything bad about- he is always so wholesome in his roles.

jjjwgagy · 19/10/2025 19:25

I’m looking forward to seeing this the clips I’ve seen look good. The girl who plays Lucy isn’t actually an actress she went viral on TikTok last year on her driving lessons and got the role from there. How amazing is that I hope this is just the beginning for her.

TheHairInClaudiasEyes · 19/10/2025 19:53

Watched it last week. Tourettes doesn’t just switch off in real life, the relentlessness comes over really well as the clip in the trailer shows when he says how tired of it he is.
A brilliantly acted film, especially by the two actors that play John. Crying one minute, laughing the next. I’ve seen 78 films this year so far and this is the best one out of them all. Cracking soundtrack too.

StewkeyBlue · 20/10/2025 13:30

I saw it this weekend.

Extraordinary film.

But I wasn’t prepared for the sheer pain in the first two thirds. I was actually half wondering whether to leave it was so painful.

KylieKangaroo · 20/10/2025 21:14

Painful in what way like sad?

tennissquare · 20/10/2025 21:22

As in your can’t bear the pain the main character has to endure.

Violetparis · 20/10/2025 22:14

Just been to see this film tonight, loved it, amazing actors, hope it wins lots of awards.

Definitely want to see this - our local cinema has screenings for a fiver on Mondays so a possible date night.

Londonnight · 21/10/2025 05:05

Highly recommend this. I saw it on Saturday, it was amazing!

I work with people with Tourette’s/ tic disorder and know the difficulties many face due to ignorance etc. I’m not sure I can cope emotionally with watching the film but I’m so glad it’s been made and it’s raising awareness. And it’s so good to hear such positive reviews.

I think I might have to wait until it's on streaming, I was bad enough before but since the strike I'm very emotional, cry so easily & can't do it quietly! I don't fancy making a right show of myself at the cinema!

The trailer for this looks good but I usually go the cinema with my teenage kids and they aren't interested! I'll have to wait until it hits streaming.

I took my teenage DD and she loved it. Honestly, you should try and persuade them to go as it’s an amazing film. It’s one of the best films I’ve seen recently. It deserves a tonne of awards

YumYa · 21/10/2025 20:49

Went with my friend she had mild tourettes and knows John.

The younger John was brilliant and the main actor Robert Aramayo was fantastic. I'm so glad it's getting rave reviews

Figgygal · 12/10/2025 07:53

My son has a tic disorder im not sure I can cope with the sadness of this film the trailer was hard enough to watch

I hope you can as it's heartwarming too.

KylieKangaroo · 21/10/2025 21:16

Ah I'm definitely going to see it, maybe can sneak in a trip while the kids are at school, it sounds so good

YumYa · 21/10/2025 23:35

There's lots of comments on Facebook under vue and cineworld posts about this film. I haven't read 1 negative. All raving about it.

Honestly go. You'll see some epic acting.

echt · 22/10/2025 03:25

I really want to see this. I was in the UK when the trailers were running but left before its release. Not been released in Australia yet. March 2026 apparently.

Fuckit fuckit fuckit.

That's shocking.

Hopefully you can stream before then?

Justsaying22 · 23/10/2025 18:38

my 15 year old was diagnosed with Tourettes 3 years ago, when I heard a film about John Davidson was coming out I wasn’t sure if I would go to see it but we went today and I’m so glad we did. The acting from young and older John was absolute superb, I hope they win awards.. god I hope! As it ended me and my husband sat in floods of tears and as we looked around people were talking to each other about Tourettes and it felt good to see people not just laughing at tics but also discussing the condition in full.

Tell them it contains lots of swearing and that might swing them. It’s also very funny. When you do get to see it, even without them, you’ll realise how important it is that everyone old enough to understand is educated about this little understood condition.

Alpacajigsaw · 24/10/2025 11:50

I thought it was great. Me and my H were divided on what we thought of his mother though. I suppose the fact it was Dottie he had with him at his proudest moment told its own story.
