Highly recommend this new heartwarming but hard hitting film which is based on real life. You will laugh and you will also cry.
John Davidson developed Tourettes in his early teens while living in the Scottish Borders. This film covers 40 years of his life.
Stellar cast and great soundtrack.

I think I saw a trailer for this. Looks good 😊 Is it on Netflix?

I really want to watch this, it looks good! Glad it has a good review - well yours haha I'll take that review and run with it!

Fraudornot · 11/10/2025 22:19

Just watched this and the best film I’ve seen in ages. Acting was tremendous from the whole cast.

mum2jakie · 11/10/2025 22:22

The trailer for this looks good but I usually go the cinema with my teenage kids and they aren't interested! I'll have to wait until it hits streaming.

AnotherCunningPlan · 12/10/2025 01:42

I saw it this evening and thought it was great. It was funny, sad and moving all at the same time. It could have been really schmultzy but somehow wasn't. Really enjoyed it!

Mikart · 12/10/2025 06:30

Going today!

FrippEnos · 12/10/2025 06:39

I'm really pleased to hear that he is still about and has had this made about him.
I remember the documentary that was about him when he was younger.

MakemineaGandT · 12/10/2025 06:45

Went to see it yesterday. It was incredible and I highly recommend it. The acting is superb, and it’s just brilliant. A film that will stay with me forever. I hope it wins awards - it deserves to.

Theraffarian · 12/10/2025 07:38

Couldn’t agree more , saw this last week and enjoyed it so much . Wasn’t well attended at the viewing we went to , but really hope it gets the traction it deserves as the main actor was outstanding.

Sheldonslovechild · 12/10/2025 07:44

Cried when I seen the trailer.

My 14 year old DS has Tourette's and the struggle is real. So glad that this film will educate people of the reality of this disability rather than just the "funny" side seen on social media.

I'm looking forward to watching it.

RaraRachael · 12/10/2025 07:51

I really want to see this as I remember watching the documentary but it won't be on at our local cinema as it's school holidays and the nearest decent one is 60 miles away 😓

Figgygal · 12/10/2025 07:53

My son has a tic disorder im not sure I can cope with the sadness of this film the trailer was hard enough to watch

MsCandlelight · 12/10/2025 07:54

I’ve just booked tickets to see this today. Thanks for the recommendation.

Mikart · 12/10/2025 15:11

Just seen it. Incredible performances

YourPeppyAmberTraybake · 12/10/2025 15:12

I watched it last night, there was a lot of crying from the audience. It’s a really good film.

Fraudornot · 12/10/2025 15:13

@Figgygalhe may find it enormously validating. It has quite a feel good factor to it but not a cheesy ending. Don’t want to say more and spoil.

The young lad sat next to me was having tics as he watched it and he cried but also laughed a lot.

I'm really pleased to hear that he is still about and has had this made about him.
I remember the documentary that was about him when he was younger.

I remember watching that documentary and our maths teacher making fun of him the next day which just shows you the kind of reactions he had to deal with.
This is an absolutely brilliant movie. The acting is superb. The story is a real rollercoaster. There are some very funny scenes but some really heartbreaking moments. I would recommend to anyone. I think this film should really be in line for some recognition in awards season, particularly for the lead actor.
I am so glad to hear John has been able to lead a fulfilling life and his work is really inspiring.

Puppylucky · 12/10/2025 19:20

Saw it today - it was amazing - lots of tears in the audience

Seawolves · 12/10/2025 19:35

Going to see it on Friday, looking forward to it.

AreYouShittingMe · 12/10/2025 19:42

I work with people with Tourette’s/ tic disorder and know the difficulties many face due to ignorance etc. I’m not sure I can cope emotionally with watching the film but I’m so glad it’s been made and it’s raising awareness. And it’s so good to hear such positive reviews.

runningoutof1deas · 12/10/2025 19:45

I saw this on Friday with my sister. Brilliant film, I laughed and cried. Brilliant acting, I love Maxine Peake!!!! Will remember it fondly.

bluedabadeedabadoo · 12/10/2025 20:04

I’ve just been to see this and it’s amazing. So fabulously acted throughout.y eyes are stinging from crying all the way through. My son is ND and although the impact isn’t anywhere the expect as the impact that Tourette’s has had upon John it was really good to see from johns perspective the lived experiences of someone with Tourette’s.
I would highly recommend this.

ohyesido · 12/10/2025 21:51

I saw it yesterday and I loved it. Sensitive portrayal of a topic it would be only too easy to laugh at as though it were comedy..

only issue is it goes on a long time after the point has been made
