My DM and I are looking to enjoy a girl's night tomorrow and see Bridget Jones mad about the boy. However my Dad died earlier this year quite suddenly, it was all a shock and we are still grieving. We are doing well, keeping busy and generally positive but I'm worried spoiler alert about the fact Mark Darcy dies and will it be a good idea if my mum recently lost her husband. We did talk about it and she still wants to go and said to me she can't hide from these things in life and I totally agree, but for anyone who has already seen the film do you think we should just wait until it's on TV and give her more time. Or do you think it's not a big part of the film and the comedy will outweigh this. Like I said I think my DM will be fine but just want people's views who have seen it and will have a better idea.

I feel differently to most. I would go. When you’re in the depths of grief nothing is going to make you think more about it. The film is mostly funny, with sad scenes. Grief can be a very lonely experience, ignored by society and this might be helpful/cathartic in some ways.

My friend went to see it. She's recently lost her husband. She liked it but found it very sad. She cried in the cinema.
