2. He’s such a good architect. Why is there so much water in the building at the top of the hill?

1. I think answering that so soon when lots of people haven't seen it would be too much of a spoiler so I'll PM you!

1. I think that's an interesting one. I imagine if you excavate down far enough - and this was some kind of underground chamber level I think - you get the water table and it has to be constructed in such a way that seals the water out and they hadn't done that yet. BUT I suspect that that's a big technical unliklihood and they were using poetic licence because they thought the story required the water. Really if you think about it, it didn't. So possibly a big flaw in the film and it did bother me at the time but not in such a way as to detract from the general momentum, just passing thoughts.

1. Yes, I think she was severely traumatised and had become mute. I think they could have had slightly more explanation for this; a conversation between Laszlo and his wife (sorry can't spell her name and don't want to look it up right now) could have made this clearer. Maybe they made that scene and cut it though, who knows?

I thought the niece being mute was poorly handled. There was no explanation given for it or any obvious attempt to help her and then suddenly she was shown as talking again.

Would love to hear any theories on Mr Van Buren, I assumed he may have abused his own son and the revelation of the rape led him to commit suicide but no idea really.

Somebody else said they thought maybe he hanged himself, but he would’ve had to fashion that noose pretty fast
