I just loved it. I loved it!
Has anyone else watched it yet? I watched last night and again today (I never do that).

The scene when he teases her with the olive... and the way they look at each other, the intimacy in the ordinary.

Plus him, oh for gods sake. A beautiful man.

Yes, I just came on to see if anyone else had started a thread as I just finished it and wanted to talk about it too. Lots of interesting characters in it, and made me want to travel to Morocco immediately!

Oh, I am not alone, finally Grin

I watched it yesterday. I thought it was totally cringeworthy. I will never get that time back!

CharlotteStreetW1 · 20/10/2024 14:47

What's it on?

Trainstrike · 20/10/2024 15:26

Netflix. Yes it was very cringey but I had recently watched This Time Next Year which was one of the worst things I've ever seen, so I think this probably looked Oscar-worthy after that!

I was really annoyed at this film! I usually like them. He was too self centred when his girlfriend was excited about her new career and basically started an emotional affair 🫣

timetodecide2345 · 20/10/2024 21:19

Yes his sulking fractured male ego was really getting on my nerves. I actually wanted the girlfriend to shack up with the novelist. That would have been a much more interesting story.

JRorBobby · 21/10/2024 13:12

Definitely a marmite movie so!

I loved many things about it -
I liked how it all played out in minor notes - her frustration for quiet in the MOST QUIET of places, the ducking and avoiding. The polite but not welcomed interactions. I could feel her stress...

I loved their interactions.

I also liked that it didn't play into the many cliches that were there for the taking ... oh it'll never work, the age gap, oh it's been years since I was touched blah blah blah...

I found his girlfriend incredibly annoying.

I loved when he told the writer to fuck off when she greeted him with "hello arm candy!"

Their judgement for him in his career, their lack if interest beyond their little bubble, and then dismissal of him in a kind of eye roll "ok-kayyy" manner ... brilliantly played out.

It was to me about what wasn't said throughout. To me it was almost like people watching!

Im watching this now. Actually enjoying it and seeing things from a different pov.

OctoberandApril · 10/02/2025 21:48

I've just watched this. As a middle aged woman I found it cringe as I have a DS. The age difference was quite big.

I'm absolutely not a pearl clutcher but I just don't think the actors went well together.
