Have not read the book but I thought so I don’t know how good an adaptation it is but thought it was a good film. It was a hard watch in some places admittedly but really good and I think that Blake Lively will shines in this film.

I thought it was very well done. Really enjoyed it even though it was super emotional

I liked that the story addressed the fact that DV can be commuted by people of highly thought of professions.

@PragmaticDramatic I saw it Tuesday. Not as good as the book but I enjoyed it. I thought Blake Lively was great. I liked the way they showed the subtle elements of dv without making it obvious

I thought the DV was handled well and the fact that he was portrayed as a multifaceted man was good.
It seemed a bit implausible that two people with humble backgrounds could afford to own their own businesses though.

Not a patch on the book but films rarely are. Despite being quite long there wasn’t time to give characters and relationships any depth. The flashbacks didn’t do the Lily/Atlas connection any justice. I loved Blake and her style, he wasn’t my idea of Ryal. Thought the nuance of the dv scenes was excellent especially for the audience this is likely to attract. Overall it was ok but I expected better.

She wasn't from a humble background.

I saw it today and just about to download the book, really enjoyed the film, reminded me of Sleeping with the Enemy.

Every part was worth reading, thoroughly enjoy from start till the end.

Can I ask about the DV scenes? I find this very triggering, so tend to avoid if too much. Obviously I understand that is subjective, but would be good to have a heads up.

Give it a miss, the whole film is about DV x
