Also obviously SPOILER AHEAD Grin

So rewatched last night with DD (who loved it after being initially scared shitless by the poor young girls face in the closet! That was my fault obviously as I had forgot that bit therefore didn't warn her).

The farm that the Morgans and Samara live on and therefore the well her adoptive mum throws her down is reached by ferry). However the cabin in the mountains isn't. Yet when Rachel finds her body it's in a well under the cabin

How is this? Googling says the original well layer has a cabin built on aviary of the mountain complex but this is in a separate place to the farm which is still there?

Anyone shed any light? It's bugging me Grin

Also - still an awesome film!! Rewatched Triangle recently as well, still excellent too

The well she throws her down is the campsite well! They go on holiday there after the horses die.

I can't remember which well it was. But I remember the last time I watched it, a family member died unexpectedly that same night. So I will never watch it ever again. Freaked me out too much.

I didn’t think the well Samara was thrown into was on the farm, but it’s been some time since I saw the film. There are some differences between the US remake and the Japanese original though so maybe that’s where the confusion is?

I love that film. One of the best horrors I've seen. But I get mixed up between the Japanese version and the US version. I think there was a Ring 2 also.

I hate the Ring. Scared me so badly in my 20s that I stopped watching horror. Even now when I turn off the light and leave my living room at night I hasten away from the TV. Creeps me out thinking about it.

The Grudge which was also a Tartan film scared me badly too.

Several sources including the Wiki for Moesko Island (where the farm is) say:

However, after October 20th, the horses stopped killing themselves. This was actually due to Samara's death at the hands of Anna who tossed her down a well at Shelter Mountain Inn, Anna throwing herself off a cliff soon afterwards. The horses returned to normal afterwards, no one aware of what the cause was.

For all of the times I’ve watched this, it’s never even crossed my mind. Not sure what that says about me 😂
