Watched it on Amazon prime. Easy watch and I enjoyed it. Typical rom com being played out in the era of social media. Would you raise your eyes at the age gap? Forty year old woman with a twenty four year old man (I think he said twenty four).

Loved it! I thought they adapted it well from the book which I read and enjoyed.

Yes eyebrows would be raised but 15 year age gaps aren't unusual just more so for women than men

Mumteedum · 04/05/2024 14:47

I didn't make it through the trailer but each to their own Grin

Colourofspring · 04/05/2024 15:27

I enjoyed it too! Quite steamy at some moments!

Missfelinemoo · 04/05/2024 19:40

I think my inner teenage swooning self came out watching this. Loved it. Was such an easy watch and even though there weren't sex scenes as such it still felt steamy which I always appreciate. Will be watching again.

I adored the book and agree that this felt like a good adaptation, I thoroughly enjoyed it, I thought the casting was perfect!

PollyStressHead · 04/05/2024 20:08

Yes enjoyed it. He didn’t look 24 though. Would have said 34.
I initially thought they were a boy band making a comeback after many years.
Ann Hathaway is beautiful.

I loved the book it reminded me of my slightly inappropriate crush on Harry styles when he was around 20 and I was35.

The film was ok but didn't capture their feelings for each other as well as the book did. The daughter looked about 20 as well although both her and Anne Hathaway are beautiful. The end was a cop out but was fairly obvious they would do that.

ineedtostopbeingdramaticfirst · 05/05/2024 05:52

It's ironic though that in the past stars like Bruce Willis often have a love interest that's about 20 years younger than them and it's not even acknowledged but when it's the other way round it's because it's the plot of the film.

Although I did recently watch a film with chaning Tatum and Sandra bullock in and she's slightly older than him.

I read the book last week and loved it! Watched the film the next day to see what the adaptation was like. I did prefer the book, but as a standalone romcom it was pretty entertaining. I hope pp who have seen the film will want to read the book, it has so much more depth to it ( and lots more sex, if you like that sort of thing!)

alrightluv · 16/05/2024 15:13

Just watching now. He's 29 in rl. God he's hot. I don't normally fancy younger. Bet Anne enjoyed making this.

I haven't read the book. Glad it's a decent adaptation though.

Ha! We spent the whole film referring to Not Harry Styles - English accent, habit of wearing cardigans and having a penchant for older women.

We were glad Old Lady Anne Hathaway (as if! ) got some great sex with NotHarry. After that asshole ex husband she deserved some fun!

alrightluv · 16/05/2024 16:15

I cried a couple of times.
One gripe was the chat show. I won't say too much as it's a spoiler. But it wasn't authentic iykwim?

Appalonia · 16/05/2024 17:29

The book is SO much better!

happinessischocolate · 17/05/2024 12:40

I loved it.

A good insight into how isolating being famous can be, plus the horror of the comments all over social media and the fact that even if you delete all SM your family will still get comments from people.

He was even hotter at +5 years 😍

ImCamembertTheBigCheese · 19/05/2024 14:39

I enjoyed the film. Love a good romance.

Interesting that years ago Catherine Zeta Jones and Sean Connery starred in Entrapment together. He was 69, she was 30. No uproar that I remember. Other way round would have been such news.

ChocoChocoLatte · 19/05/2024 15:16

Did I watch the wrong film?! I love AH but thought this was beyond awful

HermioneWeasley · 02/06/2024 20:19

I thought it was complete drivel. Sub fan fic.

purpleme12 · 21/12/2025 00:46

I enjoyed it

Devits78 · 21/12/2025 23:05

This is on iPlayer until Boxing Day. Not impressed so far. I notice they've made the singer older - in the book he's 20.

Caremwluz · 22/12/2025 15:11

Seems to go on forever, although it's less than 2 hours long. Could have been an enjoyable piece of fluff if they'd cut it to 80 minutes or so.
