As title anyone seen it? I’m going to tomorrow with my teenage DD she now has a soft spot for Ryan since Barbie!
Hoping it’s just good fun.

I'm going on Monday so I'll mark my place now (sorry, not helpful I know Grin).

Early reports suggest it's a bit too long but a lot of fun Smile

Wendalicious · 03/05/2024 22:08

It is good fun! Took my 11 and 12 year olds and we were all suitably entertained- probably not an Oscar candidate but fun- enjoy!

Missfelinemoo · 04/05/2024 19:47

Saw this today. I found it really funny. It's one of those where you can switch off the outside world and just have a good time. Highly recommend for a light hearted boost to your mood. Some nice eye candy as well!

rookiemere · 04/05/2024 22:02

Oh dear, I was a bit disappointed.

I wasn't expecting world class drama, but the plot and the writing was so flimsy and it was far too long. I loved Ryan Gosling in Barbie, but he feels a bit wasted here. The only person who really seemed to be enjoying herself and turning in a great performance was Hannah Waddington.

OneFrenchEgg · 04/05/2024 22:07

Just got back. Dreadful. Worst film I've seen. Won't post spoilers but bloody hell. The credits was the best bit.

CountingCrones · 04/05/2024 22:14

The original TV show was hokey as hell; Lee Majors sang the terrible theme song. It can't possibly be worse than that.

Oopsy41 · 04/05/2024 22:18

I loved it, thought it was really entertaining.

ArchaeoSpy · 04/05/2024 22:41

basically fast and furious comedy version.
that said it looks and its quite good

SpikeGilesSandwich · 05/05/2024 11:46

Would anyone who's seen it think it's appropriate for a 7 year old? I know it's a 12a so I'm thinking probably not.

id say not

SpikeGilesSandwich · 05/05/2024 12:01

Thanks, I've just looked into it more and I'd have to agree.

I LOVED the tv theme tune! Is it a part of the film at all?

Weedkillerworks · 05/05/2024 12:42

I loved it - not because it’s the greatest film I’ve ever seen but because it was fun, full of action and features not one scantily clad woman. The most female flesh you see is Hannah Waddingham’s guns when she wears a vest. Plenty of male abs, though, if that’s your thing.
No casual misogyny, homophobia etc, just a good action film.

Only went because DD love RG (and I might be beginning to see her point).

And, yes, the original theme tune features at the end but it’s not the same version (no line about making Eastwood look so fine).

Rg is good in the financial film: The big short (altough youtube may give the relevant parts for Rg)

"embrace your core"

Weedkillerworks · 05/05/2024 15:04

@ArchaeoSpy Yes! Finally got round to watching it and it’s a great film. Due to Dd’s obsession, we are working our way through all of his films.

PragmaticDramatic · 05/05/2024 16:05

It’s hood fun but feels a little disjointed in terms of the action plot and love story elements. I enjoyed it but not as much as I thought I would.

Hateyou · 05/05/2024 20:05

Forgot to update! I really enjoyed. Enjoyed Ryan he’s definitely growing on me.
Loved the quoting film lyrics to each other. Loved that it was very silly. End credits were worth waiting for. Loved the cameo .
Loved the end theme tune. Also loved his Miami Vice jacket.

Thought this was an overlong, tedious and charmless mess of a film. The script was shit as well.

Hateyou · 06/05/2024 13:11

Was the film sponsored by Diet Coke? 😂

We are alone in this. I posted above. Went with a friend and we both were so bored.

Pepsiisbetterthancoke · 06/05/2024 16:53

Was an enjoyable way to spend a washed out bank holiday but after seeing the trailer for what feels like weeks I was expecting a bit more than what it was

Saying that RG was great and him crying/singing to Taylor Swift was funny

As much as I usually love Hannah I thought she was awful in this. Came across as she was overacting in every scene she was in

SocksAndTheCity · 06/05/2024 21:46

Well I enjoyed it too - I thought it was overlong and the plot was paper thin, but I was expecting that. The stunts and action sequences were great and there was a lovely dog, which every film should have Smile

I'm guessing Hannah Waddington was the producer? I don't know who she is but that was some hardcore scenery chewing 😀

Sandwichgen · 06/05/2024 23:17

It was fun when allowed to be an action comedy, but slowed down to a crawl whenever it switched back to the love story. RG and ES had zero chemistry, and their dialogue clunked

You’ve clearly not seen many films! 😂
