Just realised I am a film philistine - dire need of suggestions!

It's only just dawned on me... some friends were talking about favourite films and I had seen barely any of the ones mentioned! Not sure how this happened.. we rented videos regularly when I was a child but the rental place closed down when I was around 10 and from then on I mainly just watched tv series. But now I've reached the ripe old age of 29 and realised I've seen hardly any films that are not musicals or children's films 😳
Any suggestions? They don't need to be the best films of all time, just anything you enjoyed. When I google 'best films to watch' the lists are very highbrow... it's not that I don't want to watch anything serious, it's just I want to watch it because it's enjoyable/moving rather than because it was groundbreaking at the time iyswim. Obvious suggestions welcome as there's a high chance I won't have seen it. Only recently saw Titanic for the first time 😬

I have watched and really enjoyed:
Billy Elliot, Stand by Me, Brassed Off, Knives Out, Brooklyn, East is East, Devil Wears Prada, Saving Mr Banks, Mean Girls, Shutter Island, Bridget Jones, Father of the Bride, Planes trains and automobiles, Schindler's List, The Pianist..
..and not a whole lot else!

I love a lot of these film suggestions! Obviously OP you will never have time to do anything else!

And what about Christmas films?

So there's
A Christmas Carol (different versions)
Christmas Chronicles
Last Christmas
It's a Wonderful Life
Elf (though you might have seen that!)

Work through A24 film company's output, that should set you right 🤩

Some of my favourites -

Educating Rita (Michael Caine and Julie Walters)

Kramer v Kramer - bit dated now but wonderful film

The Odd Couple (Jack Lemmon and Walter Matthau), so funny even after a million watches!

Parenthood

I also love Pedro Almodovar films especially The Skin I live in

If you haven't seen the fils that give rise to popular cultural references, you need to rectify that, as so much will make sense

The Godfather I, II
Bladerunner (the original, not the wailing dirge that was the remake)
Robocop I, II
Raiders of the Lost Ark
Jaws
Terminator 1, 2
Rocky I, II, III
2001: a Space Odyssey
Jurassic Park
Jason and the Argonauts
Godzilla/Gojira (I prefer the Toho ones, but the current iteration is quite pleasing)
The Dambusters
The Heroes of Telemark
The Cruel Sea
Das Boot
Bridge Over the River Kwai
The Great Escape
Alien
Alien 2
Predator
