Yeah, watched this years ago, it's very clever. The final scene still sticks in my mind

fabmaccawhackythumbsaloft · 16/09/2023 19:44

Yeah it was very disturbing.

I wonder if that was her hell. Going round and round in time because of how she treated the little boy .

I love this film. I agree with your interpretation.

tellmewhenthespaceshiplandscoz · 25/09/2023 15:44

I love love this film. So underrated and creepy as shit.

Do you find you're thinking about it after? It's great when films make you do that.

Oneearringlost · 25/09/2023 16:42

Is it appropriate for someone who really hates jump scares?

bemorebernard · 25/09/2023 17:37

Yeah there's no jump
Scares it's a supernatural psychological head fuck involving time - super creepy and a brilliant ending that explains what happened

Oneearringlost · 25/09/2023 17:48

Oh, thank you. I'll give it a go.

Yes I did think about it and the first time I saw it it stuck in my mind for years , so when I saw it come up on freevee I wanted to rewatch and couldn't remember the ending

It's disturbing in a chilling , oh my god way isn't it ?

tellmewhenthespaceshiplandscoz · 26/09/2023 15:41

Yes and when the foreshadowing moments start (like the seagulls) it's very goose bumpish

I rewatched recently also with DD 14 who declared half way through "Jesus this is a proper head fuck". I half heartedly chastised her appalling language then agreed with her.

I've always been into horror since a very young age although been turned off lots recently as it seems to just be demonic nuns, not very good zombies or torture porn (the latter I can't bear and the others have just been done to death) so I was pleased to see on a second watch it really is THAT GOOD and it's aged well too. Melissa George is great in it. Also enjoyed her and (surprisingly as he normally irritates the shit out of me) Ryan Reynolds in the remake of Amityville Horror which I loved as a kid

tellmewhenthespaceshiplandscoz · 12/10/2023 09:51

Apparently Jordan Peele is going to redo Amatyville. Now that could be outstanding Grin

I haven't seen this for many years. I think there's a scene where they mention the myth of Sisyphus, which seems to have been the inspiration for the story.

Yes, there definitely is.

Is that the story of a rock going up a mountain but then it just rolls back down, then up then down, repeat eternally?

Yes - Sisyphus was punished by Hades for cheating death by having to roll the rock up the hill for eternity.
