What’s your favourite scary movie?

Love a horror movie but feel like I’ve exhausted them all 😂 so would love some new suggestions.

I like a jump scare, thriller, mystery, totally fine with blood and gore, never seen a home invasion one I didn’t like, not a fan of vampires at all and rarely enjoy zombies.

So hit me with your faves 😁

There's a newish one on Amazon called Megan and I thought it was excellent.

Not really a blood and gore film, maybe it's more of a thriller but it's really good.

The Cell. Seen it several times. Nasty, gripping and visually stunning

I recently watched The dark and the wicked on Shudder. I found it wonderfully creepy, really gave me chills. My favourite thriller/horror is The Night House.

Hellokittymania · 20/07/2023 07:04

I really enjoyed. Hush, kept me on the edge of my seat.

Doingtheboxerbeat · 23/07/2023 00:43

Watched Smile on Paramount+ the other night and it scared me - and I'm super hard to scare.

RicherThanYews · 23/07/2023 00:45

An oldie but a goodie is Ghost House, there's a blonde girl holding a clown type doll when you search for it. The music is unsettling as hell.
I highly recommend all of the Hellraiser films, I've watched every one on a binge session recently but have been watching since I was a kid.

Hush (the one with trafficking)
Creep (set in the underground)
Speak no evil on shudder is fantastic.
Blair witch is one of my favourites

The Strangers (ignore the sequel)

Paranormal Activity (not for everyone)

The Conjuring
The Conjuring 2 (again, I would ignore the 3rd one)
The Pope’s Exorcist
The Exorcism of Emily Rose
Silent House

StuffLoriThangs · 25/07/2023 15:30

Uninhabited (2010) I remember being really decent as well. It’s a smaller Australian film.

PTSDBarbiegirl · 25/07/2023 15:33

Cabin in the Woods
Hostel
Jaws

House of wax, it's hilarious

Oh yeah! I rewatched this recently and thought (from a nostalgia point of view) that it was pretty good.

I watched all the Wrong Turn films recently. And let’s just say…..they don’t make them like that anymore……..Envy

Suspiria 1977
The Wicker Man 1973

The Tenant 1976.

Modern films are crap.

Loved The Tenant and Suspiria ( not the remake obvs )
Would never watch Wicker Man again because of the animal sacrifice. Absolutely harrowing 😭

The hills have eyes and wrong turn

Hecatoncheires · 03/08/2023 13:56

'The Descent' really freaked me out.

I remember watching this as a child, probably about 11. I can't remember the film at all, except for the creepy music!!!

I'm going to see if I can find it.

Just watched Tin and Tina! Oh my word! Took some getting into but scared me senseless.

WhiskersPete · 13/08/2023 21:40

Session 9

EconomyClassRockstar · 13/08/2023 21:43

The Ritual really freaked me out. My favourite one to laugh at is Happy Death Day.

Jewelanemone · 13/08/2023 21:44

Following this as I love a good scare. Eden Lake is a good one!

mum1527 · 15/08/2023 12:45

Obsessed with Saw at the moment, the first one is a classic but 6 is my personal favourite.

charabang · 28/08/2023 20:56

Eden Lake, Mum and Dad and Drag me to Hell are my top picks. Me and DD currently rewatching the Devils Rejects films and they are pretty good too!
