Will a 3 year old enjoy it. It is quite a long film isn't it.

wordsmith · 01/12/2004 23:16

Amazing animation. I thought DS1 (5 in March) would be bored with some of the more 'grown up' bits but he loved it all. The Guardian gave it ***. Mark Kermode on R5 Live Simon Mayo show didn't think it would gel with small kids so I was pleasantly surprised. Got the Incredibles sticker book today....

wordsmith · 01/12/2004 23:17

Hey! I typed in FIVE stars there!!

ThomCatsAreNotJustForXmas · 01/12/2004 23:19

Lottie, 3yrs, was very tired and we had been at science museum all day but she sat glued to screen with the odd tug of our sleeve to pint out certain bits. It's a great film for the whole family I reckon.

Oh thanks for this review TC. My boys have been captivated by the marketing of this one, but I was completely turned-off. But if you promise me I'll enjoy it too, then I'll indulge them.

ThomCatsAreNotJustForXmas · 03/12/2004 22:45

Errrmmmm, well I can promise you that we all enjoyed it and just hope that you all do too.

In the end dh took the boys to give me a break. They all enjoyed it loads Grin

JingleBellJodee · 12/12/2004 22:04

Roisin, we haven't seen it yet but I know what you mean about being captivated by the marketing - ds (4.5) has been hooked in for months as there was a trailer on the Finding Nemo video, and a free CD which plays on the PC - it's on constantly.

He makes me laugh with his Mr Incredible impersonation - when I tell him it's dinnertime he mimics: "I can't come to dinner ... maybe just a salad"!

we went last week with ds 3 & 5. We all loved it. They're still excited by it now. But I do have to be honest & say ds age 3 did find it slow to get going, he just didn't really understand it. Once the superhero action kicked in he was thrilled, so was fidgety & kept asking q's cos didn't understand & complained it was too long, but then when it really swung into action he was enthralled & loved it. i'd definitely see it again - will be buying the dvd when it comes out.

Definitely a big thumbs up, but maybe younger ones will find the 1st half a bit hsrd going

Allegra · 13/12/2004 16:24

My Ds1(5)loved it and keeps asking when the sequel is coming out!

DS2(3.10) on the other hand didn't like it at all and kept asking to be taken out. He found the first half boring and other bits too frightening. I regretted taking him for I thought it was a bit violent in parts -too much punching in the face. I asked DS1 what he liked best about the film and he said the fighting! Dh and I both loved it.

DoesntChristmasDragOn · 13/12/2004 16:28

DS1 (5.9) and DS2 (3.9) both loved it and have been pretending to be Dash ever since.

einRosentsprungen · 13/12/2004 18:29

DS1 has created 'factfiles' for each of the characters - age, weight, height, strength, powers, superskills, etc. ...?! I've no idea how much is imagination and how much is remembered or inferred, as I didn't see the film.

Still - who cares if it keeps him happy and quietly occupied!
