Has anyone watched this yet? Would you say it would be OK for a mature 9yo? I’ve read the BBFC guidance and it doesn’t look like there’s anything to scare the horses.

Watched it the other week, I would say it should be fine. They may not get it all but there's nothing particularly worrying in there. I loved it btw, Andrew Scott is delightful in everything and it was filmed near us at one of our favourite spots.

I watched this last night and really enjoyed it. I think a lot might go over the head of a nine year old boy.

It features two childbirth scenes, just to let you know.

Andrew Scott was, as ever, fantastic.

My 9yo is a girl so no concerns there. Thanks both. It looks like just the ticket. She has just rewatched The Kid Who Would Be King and it looks like it might fit that same niche of proper dramatic films for middle-years.

I think it would be perfect for a 9 yo girl. I really enjoyed it with my 16 year old. Lots of strong girl empowerment messages for the present day even if unlikely for the 13th century!

I loved it.

We watched it over the weekend and absolutely loved it. I’d already had to explain what a virgin is during a Hallowe’en viewing of Hocus Pocus…

My Gran was called Birdie even though her real name was Noreen. Basically she was tiny (had size 13 child feet!) which is how she got the nickname but I'm going to watch this in honor of her. (She also emigrated here as a single mum with no family in the country and brought up 2 children).
