Just watched this with DD, (13), as I absolutely loved the animated original. Oh dear. SO disappointed; we both thought it was a real mess. The only saving grace was the wonderful Cynthia Erivo, and she's hardly in it.
Such a shame - what did everyone else think?

I watched it this afternoon with DC, even though it was rated 9+ which is above their ages, they have seen with the (very weird) cartoon and enjoyed it and a friend with similar age DC said it was good. It was ok, bit disturbing in places, but the ending was disappointing for DC as not the same as the cartoon.

They found it highly amusing when a character said a rude word (that I have let slip on a few occasions and told them not to repeat) as they were all escaping pleasure island.

It took me until the last scene to realise Geppetto was Tom Hanks and I still wasn’t sure and had to double check with Google.

I thought the ending was such a cop out, wanted to see him transform!

I love Tom Hanks and thought his acting was terrible in this.

Someone said they were leaving it open for a sequel, but I felt it was a euphemism for non binary and self identification. Not in a bad way. I actually didn’t mind the ending. Because at least it finished.

some parts were a bit scary. The whale wasn’t quite right and smoke monsters were quite unnerving.

Yes I agree about Tom Hanks - he was really phoning it in wasn't he!!

Guess I'm waiting for the Guillermo del Toro one then 😂😂
The 2019 version is good, I really enjoyed it.

He does change into a boy. Right at the very end when walking away.

DS2 (15) and I watched it this afternoon. We liked it, it wasn't amazing but it wasn't awful. I'm not a massive fan of the original though tbh. It's quite far down my list of Disney films. (I don't hate it)

Might watch the Guillermo del Toro one tomorrow.

We saw it this week and I kept getting angry that Pinocchio was a good boy sought of dragged into it rather than being a rum un himself!
