A bit dull, to be honest

It was very meh with some ok moments

exLtEveDallas · 09/07/2022 22:10

Yeah. So disappointed (and sad for DD who got the tickets for us as a surprise).

Some good moments, some clever one liners, but overall it was too slapstick comedy for me, and Thor himself just pissed me off.

(oh and I hate hate hate his new suit)

One of the biggest disappointments in the mcu franchise.

Too many silly "jokes" .and changing continuity from other films to fit the current agenda

sakura06 · 12/07/2022 18:50

I was really disappointed too. It's probably ok, but my expectations were very high. I even went to the toilet in the middle and didn't care I was missing some. Overall, very silly.

I really enjoyed it! Clearly I’m in the MN minority so far but I’m going to see it again. I thought it was hilarious and Gorr was a brilliant villain.

I thought it was great! But I am a big Marvel fan. Funny but sweet too.

TheLeadbetterLife · 16/07/2022 17:36

It was quite fun, like a school play (the sort the kids make up themselves) with a Hollywood mega budget. Zeus being a fat Greek bloke and the bar on the boat being called Cocktails and Dreams is exactly the sort of nonsense we used to do at school.

It wasn’t a masterpiece by any stretch, but I’d take it over those ridiculously emo DC efforts, like all of the Batmans.

I also thought it was interestingly atheist and wondered if it has pissed off American religious types. The bit where Gorr tells Jane that Jesus ain’t gonna show up when she dies was quite edgy for a mainstream Hollywood film.

HappyBinosaur · 16/07/2022 17:43

I’m religious @TheLeadbetterLife and it didn’t piss me off, although I’m much more liberal than many.

HappyBinosaur · 16/07/2022 17:44

I thought it was quite scary for a MCU 12a certificate and my youngest child found it scary.

I was thinking more of the “ban Harry Potter” type, although I appreciate that’s a broad church these days, as it were.

I loved this.

The story was good (& relevant to me - people rebelling against their gods after they trusted them/lost a child), the characters were some of my favourites, good score on the bechdel test (must feature at least two women, these women must talk to each other, and their conversation must concern something other than a man) where many other Marvel films have failed. I like it that Thor isn't taken too seriously - and I loved the music.

I thoroughly enjoyed it. The Thor movies are always more lighthearted than others in the MCU series. I think it fits in with the Thor character nicely.
It had action, humour and some low level anticipation. A winner in my eyes.

You think thor 1 + 2 are lighthearted?

ginghamstarfish · 12/10/2022 22:55

Poor, and I am a Marvel fan. I do think they really flog some of the characters to death though.
