Indie horror films / cosmic horror recommendations please?

I love a good horror/ cosmic horror film and have come across some pretty good independent ones like The Void and Sweetheart just from randomly googling for horror films.

The new Colour out of Space is pretty good too.

Any recommendations for similar? I prefer monster and psychological horror rather than slasher stuff and I really don't like stuff like Hostel or Wolf Creek for example. I don't mind low budget style stuff or foreign language if it's subtitled, and am quite fond of a so bad it's good film occasionally too ha ha!

I find most stuff isn't so much scary anymore but if you've watched one that kept you awake that night I'd definitely like to hear about it!

Mandy, Possession, You Won't be Alone, The Cellar, The Feast are all very good

I like Ginger Snaps, Ready or Not and Knock Knock for quirky different films.

Coherence is an excellent film that's both cosmic and indie. Requires a bit of patience but so eerie and worth it. Also Annihilation, even though I didn't like that one as much as everyone else. Cloverfield. Benson and Moorehead films would probably be up your street: The Endless, Spring, Synchronic, Resolution. Cloverfield and Don't Look Now, if you haven't seen them.

I found Vivarium genuinely disturbing.

It Follows is good, The Witch (2015), have you seen The Babadook? There's a bit in there towards the end which really unsettles me

Popsicle33 · 23/05/2022 00:10

Resolution, The Endless, Donnie Darko, Coherence, The Invitation, Time Crimes and Triangle are all superb headfucky films

The Invitation

Lovely Molly was really creepy.

Definitely Mandy. If you want to go a bit more vintage then Event Horizon is good fun too Smile.

I didn't like Annihilation either.

I understand OP, I don't like slasher-pron like Hostel, Saw etc. Also votes for Coherence, Vivarium and The Witch. The Beach House, The Advent Calender, A Dark Song ...
