agree with Meet the Fockers.
And Dodgeball. Thought it was going to be a real 'lads' film but loved it.

And 40 year old virgin.

Hudson Hawk
Flushed Away

Saturn74 · 01/01/2008 21:14

Ooh, and Blades of Glory

I've just taken dd (14) to see St Trinian's. It wasn't brilliant, but it was better than I expected, and I laughed all the way through. There were plenty of gags that went straight over her head, and nothing too risque, although some druggy references which I fet were unnecessary.

oops

yes, fockers i meant

THe bits of Love Actually featuring Bill Nighy (though the rest of it was the usual smug Curtis crap).

TurkeyLurkey · 01/01/2008 21:18

Another vote for 40 year old Virgin (thought it was great but the trailers made it look shite).

Loved "You, Me and Dupree" too.

The original first Terminator film. It was on late one night and DH started watching it. I was just kissing him good night and telling him i was off to bed. Started watching first few scene and got suckered into it.

Tutter · 01/01/2008 21:37

oh yes, agree themoon

i rmember going for a walk the day after seeing it (must have been early teens?) and seeing a pile of cooled moltem metal (iykwim) and getting really freaked out by it . side-stepped it neatly...

The Sixth Sense with Bruce Willis. Normaly can't stand his gung ho antics but thought this was a really good film with a fab twist at the end.

choosyfloosy · 02/01/2008 09:36

Death at a Funeral. The reviews were, to put it kindly, catastrophic (e.g. 'Seeing this film is a foretaste of death') but i thought it was quite funny and some fantastic performances.

And I'd agree re Blades of Glory - was in the mood for something silly, managed to persuade dh along, and it delivered in spades, we laughed our socks off.

40 year old virgin
Sunshine

InLoveWithSweenyTodd · 18/01/2008 17:15

pan's labyrinth

JonesTheSteam · 18/01/2008 17:18

Gladiator.

Remember reading that Oliver Reed died while filming it in Malta and thinking that if he was in it, then it must be shite.

Was very pleasantly surprised.

And most things with Tom Hanks in. Don't particularly like him so always prepared for his films to be shit. But then I usually end up liking them

Maidamess · 18/01/2008 17:20

I enjoyed 'Knocked Up'. I was expecting an American Pie type thing, but it was more intelligent than that.

expatinscotland · 18/01/2008 17:21

Wedding Crashers

bran · 18/01/2008 17:23

Pitch Black, we only went to see it because we couldn't get in to something else that we wanted to see. I expected to hate it, but actually found it gripping and scary.

Took DS to see Alvin and the Chipmunks today. Was expecting to need earplugs but it was fab and Ds loved it

Notyummy · 19/01/2008 19:00

I also found Sunshine much better than expected, mainly because friends of ours said it was rubbish and we really enjoyed it.
