And don’t waste your time or money.

It’s a frankly preposterous, formulaic disaster movie that’s way too long and labours the points very, very badly.

I only stayed out of stunned fascination!

I agree. Saw it today hoping it would be a 'so bad it's good' type of trashy film. But no, it's just bad.

I saw it today too. I liked the first bit, felt similar to Don’t Look Up but yes got utterly bonkers with going into the moon, mega structure, AI, ancestors DNA plus relatives appearing as hologram bits. But it was funny in parts too.
Are “mega structures” an actual real life conspiracy theory?

Aww, spoilsport. I enjoyed it. It’s silly but it doesn’t take itself seriously. Thumbs up from me.

Ah it was fun!

EnjoyingTheSilence · 13/02/2022 00:19

Damn. I love a disaster movie and was going to watch that

KEG05 · 13/02/2022 00:56

Agree. But we went to see it at a 4DX cinema and the experience was amazing. It really leant itself to that. Film itself though was hilariously bad 😂. And some of the acting was questionable at best 😂.

I just think it is what it is. It’s by Roland Emmerich - he did Independence Day, 2012, Day After Tomorrow. It’s no more preposterous or formulaic than any of those.

The comparison with Don’t Look Up, a very modern, satirical, moralistic allegory movie, is interesting I think. This is just plain and simple old fashioned almost-apocalypse sci fi disaster movie, knows it’s silly, and just does what it says on the tin. Don’t Look Up is different and worthy and a very different type of movie, even though the subject matter might be superficially similar.

If you like 2012 and Day After Tomorrow and aren’t expecting anything particularly new or different, just enjoy Moonfall for what it is. This type of film is my go-to guilty pleasure comfort movie and I’ll happily add the bluray to the roster.

It's knowingly ludicrous and good fun but I can see why other people didn't like it.
