Is it really that bad?

@HoliHormonalTigerlilly It’s a strange one. It wasn’t bad as such just a bit random but it wasn’t boring. I still can’t decide if I liked it or not Grin

airbalonz · 11/02/2022 14:10

I was thinking of seeing this, it has good reviews doesn’t it? Google says 91% rotten tomatoes score

LoseLooseLucy · 11/02/2022 14:13

This just came up in active and I clicked on it thinking it was food 🤣
I'll swerve the pizza and the food then.

llansannan21 · 11/02/2022 18:39

I thought the central characters were well played, but it is definitely a story set in the 1970s. No way would a 15 year old be anywhere near running a business today, or be pestering a 25 year old.

Casheeeew · 11/02/2022 18:46

I heard it great. But apparently it's a 25 year old fancying 15 year old? So sounds a bit Confused but again, all I've heard it good things, so 🤷

ISpyCobraKai · 12/02/2022 14:24

I'm seeing it on Tuesday so will report back.
My cinema is being weird, they still haven't shown Nightmare Alley.

Pangolin44 · 12/02/2022 14:41

It's on my watch-list so I'd be interested in any reviews or opinions, all the reviews I've read have been very positive.

realsavagelike · 13/02/2022 06:39

A bit left of centre with a definite 'arty' feel. I loved it, but I am a sucker for that era.

SirSidneyRuffDiamond · 13/02/2022 16:43

I saw it and it gave me the ick. I have a 15 year old son and no way would I want him in a relationship with a 24/25 year old. Reverse the sexes or make it a m/m relationship and I doubt it would have had the same positive reception.

ISpyCobraKai · 15/02/2022 22:52

I'm not sure what to make of it.
It's definitely random, but kinda funny.
I was waiting for something major to happen.
No way is it Oscar worthy but I'm glad I saw it.

rookiemere · 20/02/2022 20:49

I thought it was ok, but running time far too long and Bradley Coopers performance awfully self indulgent.

FrustratedTeddyLamp · 23/02/2022 14:19

Didn't like the 15/25 year old relationship and how come they could do all the businesses and have no school? And the girl was potentially less mentally mature than the 15 year old boy.

I mean it felt kinda long but i didn't feel bored really, there's just also lots I didn't like about it. Id probably give it a 6/10

RockingMyFiftiesNot · 23/03/2022 22:08

Possibly the most bizarre film I've ever seen. Didn't love it, didn't hate it. It was quite funny in places. Had to just go with it in places even though it was unlikely (like him running his business). Has to stop ourselves saying 'that would never happenI' and let it roll.
I felt very uncomfortable with the relationship too, she was an interesting, complex character.
Worth a watch I'd say, even if just for the novelty value.

balalake · 26/03/2022 09:44

I saw it when it came out.

It is telling a story of its time, you would never have the kind of relationship or behaviour now from anyone like the central characters.
